McDonald’s is the go-to American solution for unexpected hunger—whether on a neverending road trip or simply driving the everyday route, McDonald’s is always cheap, open, and nearby. The McDonald’s on Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Charles has been in business longer than just about anything else in the area, filling a niche in the local economy, but doesn’t show its age thanks to regular renovations and a high level of cleanliness. The food is much like that of any other McDonald’s, with poorly mixed shakes, over-salted fries, and the chance for receiving the wrong toppings on your burger with any given visit, but one goes to McDonald’s expecting these mistakes. It is McDonald’s, after all, and the sacrifice of quality for speed is one that the diner is aware of before partaking in the fast-food experience. Rather, what sets this particular McDonald’s apart is the drive-thru service. Although the physical set-up of the drive-thru is inconvenient—you have to drive around the building in order to get to the line—the service in the drive-thru is consistently the best drive-thru experience I’ve ever received, including the incessant (but endearing) franchise-mandated chipperness of the lovely employees at the Chick-Fil-A across the street. What makes this drive-thru, the drive-thru of a lowly twenty-year-old McDonald’s, stand out from all others? Joe does. Joe is a young man who seems to work the afternoon shifts during the weekdays, and I have had the pleasure of seeing him on several after-school snack runs. Joe always ensures that I’m “lovin’ it” when he’s working the drive-thru because he is cheerful, accurate, and musical. Upon pulling up to the speaker, I am greeted by a cheerful welcome, and asked what I’d like to eat. After I’m done ordering my usual snack (a medium chocolate shake and medium fries), my order is sung back to me for confirmation. Once I ascertain that what is displayed on the screen is correct, I am serenaded by Joe’s rendition of the McDonald’s jingle as I drive from the speaker to the first window, where I pay. Joe works at this first window, and congratulates me on my ability to pay in exact change. After handing me my receipt, he asks about my day and makes pleasant small talk until it’s time for me to go to the next window. Joe’s dedication to customer service extends to all who pass through the golden arches during his shift, as witnessed by the framed letters from customers hanging by the soda fountain inside, all praising Joe for his cheer, a few citing him as having “made [their] day.” Joe is also an example for the rest of the drive-thru staff, who are all pleasant and attentive, and it is through no fault of their own that they cannot surpass the singsongy standard of fast-food perfection that Joe has set. If you have lost faith in the fast-food industry, you should go visit Joe at the McDonald’s on Mid Rivers. He takes advantage of his service-industry job to make the world a better place, and makes McDonald’s a place...
Read moreThe service was great. I went through the drive-thru. I only had one totally minor problem. I ordered a burrito with hot picante sauce. And instead of the hot picante sauce, i got the mild picante sauce. But other than that, my order was perfect. I always seem to have a problem when I order something there. Whether it's a sandwich that was cold, or getting ice in my powerade, or something small. So, now, every time I order hot food, I say "have it made to order" and they put it on the screen in the drive-thru so that I can see that they got it right and then I know I will get hot food. That is what I recommend every body does when they go there: say "make my food cook to order" and then say what hot items you want cook to order. It may take a little longer for the food to be ready but it is totally worth the wait. If you dont care whether your food is hot or cold, then don't say cook to order. But if you want a nice and hot and fresh meal, say "cook to order" and say which items you want.
This restaurant does not have indoor seating as of last week. I dont know about now. But I don't think it has changed over the past week.
If you go inside to order, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A MASK ON! There is a sign on the door that says "Masks Required For Entry".
This is a good place for grab-n-go meal (or snack). Which ever you are craving.
Hope you come to this restaurant. There is one worker that makes me feel like I am a valued customer. Thank you Kathy (the trainer). She was my trainer when I worked there. And I still havent forgotten about the stuff I learned from her. Thank you, Kathy, for making me feel like a valued customer and for training me years ago. I wont forget the stuff you taught me.
This is a friendly place. And it is clean most of the way through the drive-thru. There was a little bit of trash my the garbage can on the ground when I went there that time. But almost all the time it is cleaned up. Thanks to Adrian. He has made me smile a time or two.
Another person that is very friendly is the manager Rachel. She has made me smile as well.
Thank you. Keep up...
Read moreI ordered at the drive through speaker 1 pack of barbecue sauce. 1 pack of honey. And 1 pack of jelly. They forgot to put ALL those items in my bag. It’s not that big of a deal. So I after noticing I had to turn all the way around. Drive back and walk all the way back in to request these items. Because that’s how much I like these condiments with my meal. A little bit of a headache so to speak. But not that big of a deal. Then when I requested the lady to let the people know who are supposed to put those items in the bag. To please remind them of this. So it doesn’t happen next time. She just hummed “mmm hmm” And instantly walked away. Didn’t even bother to use proper English, real words and give me a full sentence. Kind of disrespectful! By the look on her face and her reaction. And NO apology and not instantly saying something to the people. Who are supposed to put those items in the bag. And the way she instantly walked away real quick. Tells me she didn’t take what I said seriously. And just took it for a grain of salt. I wouldn’t even post about this IF I got a more serious, respectful, sincere, reaction. She definitely did not convince me the issue would be fixed. I mean to have to turn all the way around, park and walk all the way back in. Because I certainly wasn’t going to wait in that long backed up line at the drive through again! All Because they didn’t put the items in the bag in the first place. Like I requested at the drive through speaker. Is a little bit frustrating. So just so she they take my point a little bit more loudly and clearly. I made a post about it. PAY MORE ATTENTION TO DETAIL ! MAKE SURE ALL THE ITEMS ARE IN THE BAG! IT WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED NEXT TIME! PLEASE...
