Arrived and a very friendly server was behind the bar asked for two Yuengling and two waters from the bar offered to pay and the nice person said that a new waiter was coming and he would put it on his check, no problems we turned around sat at the counter facing Salt Creek sipping our beer and water. Just Happy! About 30 minuets later Chia F , well that's what the name is on my receipt came for our order I said I would like the boom boom shrimp as an appetizer and the Big catch platter my husband said I will have the buffalo chicken wings and beans and rice as a meal. Chia replied do you want the chicken wings and boom boom shrimp first I said no we just want the boom boom shrimp first he them snapped back what flavor do you want we were kinda confused and my husband said on the wings medium. Chia was standing to my left my husband was sitting to my right mind you this is just the bar facing the creek at the back bar chia reached from my left across my body and face to grab the menu on the other side of my husband and he was so close I said excuse me. Well that was the end of our service he did throw down two little plates and two forks twenty minutes later we did receive our four boom boom shrimp. We waited what seemed like for ever to get out dinner that was server by someone other than our waiter and my platter was cold, in the meantime we had finished our first beer and had the cans crushed and on their side laying on the bar and Chia walked by us at least six times never offering to bring us another beer or fill our water, he was standing next to us three times talking to the people two chairs away just chit chatting. I finely went to the other bar and ordered another beer and asked the bartender who was the who server us our first beer what did we do to the guy serving us. When our food was server I had to go find condiments in a basket off another table by the other bar. He never checked back to see if our meal was ok or if we needed anything, no drink ,no napkins , no ketchup, nothing. He did have to bring us the check that was the second time he waited on us. We loved the food and service in the past but this might be a hard no in the future and the excuse that he was to busy is just crap when you have two people sitting at the door and the other guy at the other bar with one guy sitting there and what seemed to be a cook just walking around.. For gods sake do better there are so many other...

When our party of 7 first arrived (about 6:45 on a Friday night), the hostess told us there would be some long waits (about 30 min) for seating. No problem…the live band and cocktails were great to pass the time. When we were finally seated, the waitress was quick to get our drink order (all waters) and then we were ready to order our entrees. After about 30 min, four meals were brought out (shrimp tacos, shrimp pasta, red snapper, shrimp po boy). Nothing was mentioned about the rest of our order (another shrimp taco, peel and eat shrimp, mahi sandwich) and we waited for at least 15 more minutes before we even saw the waitress and asked about it. She seemed surprised we didn’t have the rest. She went to check and (finally) came back and said they were playing our food then and it should be out. Literally 10-15 more minutes passed. After a questionable look to our waitress (who also has not checked our water for refills), she literally runs back to the kitchen, returns with some water and apologies that she does not know what’s happened and the manager will be at our table in a moment. The manager visits and literally says they’ve been busy and even she’s been in the kitchen and asked do we still want our food (😣) and if so she’ll give us 50% off the entrees. This tells me that nothing was cooked or ready 30 min ago. We end is telling her to put our food in to go boxes and bring the check. Our bill was still $89 after $35 discount. Once we got home, the to go plates WERE NOT EVEN THE CORRECT ORDER!!! They were the entrees that the first four in our party received!! The food was actually really good. But I give ten thumbs down for service, lack of accountability or responsibility. We know restaurants get busy. But there is no way any restaurant brings half a party’s dishes out and not the rest. And for that fact, a $35 ‘discount’ was unacceptable. We could’ve been ugly and caused more of a scene but I’m not sure that would have been any help to the situation. But after getting home and not having the right food, maybe we should have. Music, venue, drinks/bar were 4 stars. Wait time, service, and ultimately, incompetencies in service and food prep, professionalism is zero!! So...

Just had a pretty bad experience here with both service and the quality of food which was a shame since it's in such a nice location with a great tiki style ambiance next to the marina and seemed like a great way to end a day of boating.

Our food took about an hour to come out, which we seemed odd as it didn't appear to be very busy and unfortunately we had a waitress whose demeanour was not friendly at any point. She rarely spoke to us which did not help with the situation either. Some of our party were prepared to buy many more drinks for cinco de mayo but we were never asked for anything further in the very long time it took to receive our food.

When our food did finally arrive, two meals were missing. Where was our waitress? We could see her rolling up silverware and chilling on their phone among other staff. Almost 10 mins went by until we asked a different waitress where the remaining meals were and they were promptly delivered which indicated that they were indeed ready but they were just forgotten about.

Several of our group have worked in the service industry and understand if you are having an off day or if the kitchen is backed up, etc but when no apologies or reassurance is given it makes the situation worse.

As for the food, it was average at best and wasn't hot for some of us. I received a pretty dry mahi mahi sandwich, and my partner who had ordered the peel and eat shrimp actually said they were the worst shes had in the St Pete area.

To add to this, we were then told that a 20% tip is automatically added due to the size of our party. We did not feel that 20% service was provided whatsoever. We considered asking for a manager to ask about the service and to readjust this tip but seeing staff openly sitting on cell phones, food taking so long, bad service and another customer making a loud complaint made us assume the manager wasn't there. And at this point, we all...

Updated: New breakfast hours Wednesday through Sunday, 7 am to 10:30 am. (When we were there, they said Sunday might be changed to 8 am). You can't beat the waterside vibe here for breakfast. Good menu options, nothing fancy, but tasty and reasonably priced. Super friendly service. If you're missing Munch's, try this out; even some of their waitstaff moved here! We had very good French toast, good eggs, potatoes and toast plate, and yummy breakfast tacos. Casual, laid back and on the water (Salt Creek) the Big Catch was uncomplicated and relaxed. They've figured out their standard menu now, which has seafood, meat, chicken, pasta, salads and sandwiches. The standout dishes are the seafood, with the meat specials a close second. The shrimp boil was huge and well seasoned, the grouper sandwich was worthy and the peel and eat shrimp on point. The redfish was a generous portion, well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The steak dish on garlic mashed potatoes was a hearty and tasty delight. We had house margaritas which were small but tasty and potent. We were there early to avoid the crowds, as it's a popular place. We enjoyed watching boats come and go, and even though all the seating is outdoors and it was a hot day, we were comfortable in the shade with a nice breeze. Service was very pleasant and casually efficient. The food came in a reasonable time and was hot And fresh. Overall, it was enjoyable, reasonably priced and good food. They've found their own rhythm in the time they've been open, and continue to impress.

Wanted to love this place. I liked it but the food. The vibe is beachy casual. Super covid safe with all fresh air outdoor, lots of precautions taken. Live full band on a Tuesday, bonus! Limited menu probably due to Covid. But the food was way way off. Ordered Grilled Everything Snapper, it was not good at all. Overcooked tough fish, I think not fresh. Nothing like the website pic or paper menu description. Not on a saffron sauce but sitting in a plate of liquid. Not burnt leeks, but wilted inedible leeks. Not on grilled cauliflower steak, but with fried cauli. The chef Jason Gordon featured on their website is no longer there. The fried cauli was amazing though - I didn't want fried food but it was the best I've eaten, lightly fried, just the crispest bit of breading. The fried grouper sandwich was just ok, not great but not expensive at $15. The french fries were totally heaven. Cocktails fine, service great, wonderful vibe and staff. I ordered a healthy dinner because I saw a dessert I wanted, but they don't have it any more (but they have single paper menus, they can update these easily). Or update the website. It felt like mgmt/owners maybe not paying enough attention to detail. We did let the server know our feedback, she was gracious and grateful for the input and said she'd pass it on. I still have hopes that they can turn it around. I'm aware these are tough times to judge a restaurant. Just sharing because this is a rare occasion we go out to eat, and I left wishing I'd eaten at home.

My amazing daughter in law found this restaurant while searching for a place to celebrate Father's day. She sent the web site link for me to look at. I was surprised at the location, not a place you'd expect to find a jewel like this, oops I let the crab out of the trap. We decide that a Thursday evening suited our schedules best. We met there at 5:30. Very easy to find and there is ample parking. The Big Catch epitomizes the laid back, covered, open air seating Florida "hole in the wall" atmosphere that some might say is lost, but not here. We walked in, to sound of live music, provided by an acoustic guitar player, (very talented). My concerns about mosquitoes disappeared due to the very large overhead fans moving plenty of air. We are seated by Emily who will be our server as well. Its not yet very busy. We all chose a different entre'. The variety of choices was delightful, the grouper bites to the coconut shrimp, which my grandson chose as his entre, FRESH red snapper, Mahi Mahi, Cajun shrimp bowl, and a sampler platter. All of which were prepared to satisfy! Some finished at the table, some took leftovers home, all completely happy, full bellies, and looking forward to coming back.
