I have been here a few times. I see the same customers every time. From Paul the Oregon state trooper who has been coming here since the place opened to the old man wearing a hat with a long white feather in it who also has been coming here since the place opened. Even the same loud lady showed up that has her kids running around while she chats to her friends. To the Paramedics that also order. Btw I find it odd State Troopers only have their first names on their name tag. What if the State Trooper did something bad how would you report him? The customers that frequent this place is like something out of a book or a journal. They have Nice looking Sandwiches. I ordered the Cranberry turkey sub it was decent people say they are huge sandwiches but they aren't. Best advice order and leave some of the customers seem to only wait around till you eat your food and leave. Some of the customers behavior makes people even young kids feel uncomfortable like they are predetorish. They have 2 restrooms for men and women, each restroom only having 1 stall. They also have people sitting in their truck out in the parking lot just texting. Right across the street is a Gentleman's club so I guess they got that...
Read moreWe ordered several items, including a variety of their sub choices, through their online ordering, which was fairly straight forward. You can earn reward points there as well, so it's worth taking the time to do so if you think you might become a regular.
The subs were good, with the Italian and New York standing out as our favorites. Each sub came with a wrapped up pickle spear; which was good and it was nice not to have pickle juice soaking into things. However, they were on the smaller side of the subs we've seen. That and the lack of chips make the price point a bit high overall.
Our order included Mac n' Cheese and a Brownie. The Mac was made well, but not very flavorful. The sauce really needs something more. Their Brownie is a big SKIP from us. It was surprisingly bland, as if it was simply made wrong.
Food aside, ordering and pickup were simple. The staff was friendly, everyone wearing masks, and the building looked clean.
We will likely visit again to try a few things we didn't this time around. It's certainly a place I would suggest trying...

After waking the household with a sunrise drum jam in Salem (grandson Weston’s first granddad concert!), Hunter and I set out for a well-earned bite and landed at Firehouse Subs – 3810 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR 97302.
Hunter went big with a large steak & cheese (their signature cheesesteak) and loved every bite. I chose the small meatball sub, which was more than enough—bread perfectly crisp, cheese evenly melted, sauce rich and balanced. Delicious, delicious, delicious.
Front and center inside the shop is a January 2025 donation check for $692,530 to Oregon Public Safety Organizations for lifesaving equipment—funded through the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. That number isn’t just ink on paper; it’s a powerful reminder of what happens when good food and community generosity work hand-in-hand.
From family drumming to shared sandwiches and a community that literally saves lives, this stop was pure Oregon heart. — KLIT News • Community Beat • ARK Mental...
