Wow. Where do I begin? I’ve been looking for a specific instrument for months for relatively a fair price. I don’t know how but I came across a website that I never heard of called “ Buya” and they had exactly what I’ve been looking for that was described as “ like new condition “ I first googled “buya” to read some of the reviews and there not great at all. I started to read the listing page and saw a pawn shop in Portland Oregon was selling it. Now I’m from NYC and we don’t really have pawn shops out here. Certainly ones not selling these type of instruments. However I decided to google the pawn shops name and was taken back that they had tons of reviews. Although skeptical I decided to give them a call and an associate named Angel picked up the phone. He was well spoken and immediately knew what I was talking about. I had to let angel know that I was very interested but unfortunately i live in New York is there anyway this can get shipped to me? Angel said he would look into it. He ended up calling me back multiple times and told me he checked with his team and that we can have this shipped out! He also got me the weight, dimensions and everything else that I needed to know.
At this point if I was getting scammed, these are some of the best scammers out there because I never felt so comfortable and confident in making a purchase before non the less from a pawn shop from Portland Oregon. Angels customer services deserves an Oscar because wow 👍👍
Upon trying to check out with PayPal I was running into problems processing the payment. For whatever reason PayPal was blocking my account from making this purchase. After multiple attempts to PayPal they were no help at all to get this figured out.
Although hopeless at this point I was still determined to get this figured out one way or another. I thought well if my account is not working maybe my wife’s will so I had planned to call the store first thing in the morning to let them know that I’ll be using my wife’s PayPal instead. Well I never got the chance to because someone else had purchased it overnight.
Needless to say I was pretty gutted. I waited until the store opened at 1pm since I’m on the east coast to confirm if it was actually sold and it was. Angel was not there that day and I had spoken to a few others but never felt the same helpful vibe that I was getting from Angel.
The next day I get a phone call from Angel and all I was hoping and praying for was that the deal fell through. Angel confirmed that someone did indeed buy it but considering that I worked on this for hours and to have someone purchase it overnight did not sit well with him and in good faith he was going to cancel the order and sell it to me. Now this is the kind of place that you want to shop at. Loyalty goes a long ways and that’s what Angel and the team over at Capital Pawn shown here. It really meant a lot to give me another opportunity to purchase it.
I ended up purchasing it thru my wife’s PayPal account without any issues. So if you’re having trouble on your PayPal account you might want to try on someone else’s.
Once again big shout out to Angel and everyone over at Capital Pawn on making this happen.
The only 2 negative’s out of the whole experience that’s worth mentioning.
was that the shop wouldn’t accept my pre paid shipping label and in return was charging me $200+ for ground shipping that took a week and a half to get to me.
it was described as “ like new condition “ and it was anything but that. It took me over 2 hours to properly clean the instrument from how filthy it was. My cleaning brush was black from all the dirt that it had on it. It also had a small crack/chipped on the right side and it didn’t come with the original power cord. Instead it came with a power cord that had electrical tape on it to cover the exposed wire. It was also a missing USB cable. Neither of these things were mentioned in the listing.
So for that I would normally give 3 Stars but considering how good Angel was I’ll give it 4...
Read moreHi. This Salem's Capitol Pawn Shop and it's tucked off S Commercial St. Apparently there are a handful of these shops around town with this being thee best I'm told. Owned by women. ♡♡♡ well, hell yeah it's the best then, no doubt! I say stick to this one and you'll be good. ♡♡♡
I had never purchased at any Pawn Shop before (that I remember) but I was looking for a simple genuine stone that was sparkly and beautifully cut to match a Garnet set in a sterling pendant but it's a Garnet ring set in white gold. (replacement of a semi precious stone I lost of my daughter's while gardening)
Well, your girl Katrina, (and I loved having her waiting on me), she helped with that adorable personality she has. And shared all her own girls, too...told me all about 'em. How precious is 7 ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
I got to see some neat jewelry. Unbelievable that people sell such items. Blows me away! Katrina was showing a bunch of beautiful stuff that I just had to touch and try on! I found exactly two simple enough white gold bands with gems. Cool black stone cross dangly earrings. Had to buy! I guess, she had me under a spell. Katrina made me do it, she twisted my arm! You know, she's brutal in a good way.
I only wish I used my magic before paying of "bartering a bit" with the owner. I AM a SENIOR. It was negotiable, everything IS. Dang it! I'll be back with some jewelry soon...some broken gold chains. Who needs 'em? And to buy more jewelry me. ♡♡♡ Thanks for a fun first time Pawn Shop experience, nothing like TV, thank goodness. HaHa
I'm looking for an Alexandrite set in white gold. Simple design size, 8, 9, or 10.
Thank you!

Read moreI tried to buy a portable Makita vacuum that was clearly labeled in multiple spots for $19.99. I figured I could definitely use it and added it to my stuff. While I was checking out they took it and said it was mislabeled, even though it was marked the same in more than one place. Then they took the stickers off right in front of me, changed the price to $137.99, and asked if I still wanted to buy it. That’s a pretty big jump. Why would I still want it at that price? And doing that while I’m already at the counter, mid-check out felt super unprofessional. I still spent over $700 but it was super frustrating. Instead of owning the mistake, they made it feel like it was my fault for wanting it and it being labeled wrong. Didn’t even offer me any inconvenience discount or anything to try to resolve it. There was also a “summer sale up to 25% off” sign up and when I asked about it they said the sale was over and took the sign down. Oh, they actually offered me “$10 off if I signed up for their rewards program”. Yeah, no thanks.👎🏼
SparkNotes version: Portable Makita vacuum was marked $19.99 in multiple places so I went to buy it with my other things. They changed the price to $137.99 while I was checking out and offered it back to me at that price, completely disregarding the original price they advertised. I still spent over $700 but overall very unprofessional...
