IHOP — Restaurant in Salem

Went on August 31, 2024. The place was super HOT!!! No AC, inquired about that. They said they have been working on it. It was still daylight when I was there and night when I left. Time in restaurant 7:20-8:21 pm.

Put that aside, figured liquids through out the meal would help keep me cool to mask the hotness in the restaurant, for reference or was 91 degrees outside and it felt so much hotter inside.

A server came by, placed my order. The person had a deep voice and a long braid with dark hair and tanner skin with I believe nail polish, I’m sure you can pin point which one was the server, I didn’t catch their name. Order was placed. I sub my hash browns for fries and was suggested the ihop stuff for dipping since you didint have thousand island. Was told the three ingredients that make the sauce and I accepted.

Food came, female individual asked if I needed anything else, Sauce was not there, told her about it, she asked for it from the back, which makes me believe that it was never wrote down.

Looked over and saw the pancakes were not right, but couldn’t correct the issue because NO ONE CAME BACK. I waited until the last thing to eat to see if someone would of asked how my meal was going from a paying customer that was paying their wages and paying for the ihop to be there, but nope, none. By this time my pancakes were cold. Pretty much as cold as the service I got.

In the end I received one refill on those small glasses of soda which was filled with large chunks of ice which causes less liquid to be in the glass. That refill was done prior to any of my food coming. I never saw the original person with the long braid until the end of the meal which I showed the photo, which I’ve included in this post of what was missing, and that they seemed in interested and said oh sorry… no remedy …. Like “maybe I should go get a side of the mouse cheesecake for the remainder of the pancakes”?

The time I spent there, it was enough time if anyone was taking over the tables for breaks or lunches. I never saw the original person until the end. NO one check in asking how things were going, if they did then they would have seen an issue. And the female girl that came to give me the food, it’s just as her fault of the service because as a server that knows what is going out, should be able to look at the food and see that it is not correct before it even hits the paying customers...

My son asked to go to IHOP, and I was okay with it. He ordered banana-strawberry pancakes with strawberry toppings. He got the combo egg scrambled, 2 sausages, and a small square of hashbrowns. I ordered a 🫐 waffle. I upgraded to the combo and got 2 sausages, small square hashbrown, and over easy eggs. My son's food came, and it looked great. It was a good presentation. The hashbrowns were a little burnt on the top, but eatable l. He quickly poured strawberry syrup on his strawberry pancake. Now, my food was a different story. My waffle 🧇 was burnt. It didn't bend when I patted the waffle with my finger. The waffle was hard. I told the waitress, and she said their waffle maker is timed, and they all turn out that way. I was disappointed, especially at that price. She offered to make it again. This time, it was like dough. I gave up and ate the sausage and hashbrown. The manager charged me for the waffle and extra for the blueberries. I should have taken a pic, but I hoped mankind would have done the right thing. Eventually, the manager Martin took off 4 dollars from my 17.00 dollar bill. I got very little food and the food was of poor quality. Just my review

I don't recommend They have a broken waffle maker but have not fixed it. Instead, people are charged for subpar food. Shame on you, ihop, and your manager provided the worst customer service I have this year.

I plan on contacting corporate. Martin needs customer service training. He very unprofessional and rude....

The waffles were excellent however the chicken near broke my teeth on my chicken and waffles order.. so we mentioned how they were and sorry for sarcasm but thank God I got a whopping $2 knocked off my $20 meal that seems unfair when the chicken is over half the meal.. then my ladies scrambled eggs tasted like cheese and no where on the eggs or the plate had cheese she said it didn't taste like cheese but worse that's the best way I can describe it.. then to finalize my complaint we didn't get the 2 free movie tickets for the spend over $30 get a movie ticket promo then we also received no recipt which I did not even put 2 and 2 together until I started writing this when I asked about the tickets I was ignored. The waiter was not rude nor was anyone else but the quality of service could have been a little better, sure wish I could have gotten those tickets and atleast the recipt so I could post it on here.. I generally do not write reviews but when I spend $15 and some change on food and a $5 orange juice. I do not expect much but when you charge us the customers fairly high prices we expect a certain level of quality the very last thing is my waffles were cold my butter could not melt at all or spread even.. this was not near as busy as it has been in the past so I know I am not asking for too much. I am really sorry it came to this review I hope to come back again in the future and be able to change this review or make another review but...
