Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Salem

I like the sandwiches here. But my wife just had a terrible customer service experience and I think I will be switching to Jersey Mike's.

My wife made an order for pick up and showed up on time. They asked her name and handed her a bag of food. She took it to her car and checked it. The order was way wrong, so she took it back.

The person at the counter got mad at my wife and blamed her for taking the wrong order. Of course, she stood up for herself and reminded them that they handed the order to her. How was she supposed to know it was the wrong order when they handed it to her, if she didn't check? Hmm, not making much sense there Jimmy John's dude.

So my wife asked for her order, which apparently had not gotten made. Meanwhile, the person whose order it was showed up and was upset their order was 45 minutes late. The Jimmy John's staff threw my wife under the bus! They told the other lady that my wife "took her order".

Meanwhile, more orders came into the restaurant and they started making those before my wife or the other lady! My wife spoke up again and they asked "Really? You want us to fix this?". Then they also served the wrong drinks.

We spent more than $70 for our family today. And we expect quality food, served right. And if they make a mistake (it happens) they have to make it...

So just ordered Jimmy John’s which normally I have had no problem with. I got a gargantuan. When I bit into my sandwich I crunched on to something so hard I thought one of my teeth had fallen out. So I looked at the sandwich, shrugged and took another bite. And again, I crunch down on what feels like plastic. So now, I go through my sandwich because clearly something isn’t right. Lo and behold it’s the friggin roast beef. The edge of it is so hard it feels like friggin cement. Then I dig a bit deeper and the turkey is discolored and brown.

Threw it away not 5 minutes ago. Disgusting. I don’t know how roast beef gets the the consistency of plastic and frankly I don’t care. Don’t serve stuff like that to people who paid over 15 dollars for the thing. It’s disgusting. It’s vile. And honestly, I’m probably not going to go there again. There isn’t really an excuse for that low quality and obviously old meat. They clearly need a...

Fast delivery, but overpriced. Don't get a drink here. They (apparently) have a corporate "ice policy" which makes it so you pay $2 for a large, 30 oz drink that is 75% ice and maybe 8 oz of soda. Apparently you can ask for the "easy ice" option (not an obvious option unless you've already been ripped off once), but you'd be better off getting your drink from somewhere else. The sandwiches are nothing to write home about and expensive.

I called in about my soda (had a crappy morning, decided to splurge, was extremely disappointed) which isn't something I normally do, but the girl who answered didn't know what to tell me. Put me on hold. They guy who picked up didn't even know why I was calling. I had to explain it again. Told me there was nothing they could do.

They're nice enough people, but extremely unhelpful when anything at all goes wrong.

I would have given fewer stars if I hadn't had a few decent experiences...
