If you are an omnivore (you eat everything) you'll have options. Vegetarian- you'll have GOOD tasting options. Vegan- you may have to specify a variation (i.e. no cheese). These people are good, hard working, busy, kind people who want to give you a positive experience. The experience in the cantina is different than the experience in the restaurant because, let's face it, it's bar vs. restaurant. More service than most general bars though. And a self serve, endless chips and salsa bar. For any reasonable person, this would be considered. Reviews are different if the person does not understand the bar vs the restaurant sections. If you don't understand what that means, then try both!
Explore the menu! Don't stick to typical combo options- there is really something for everyone and stretching into some exploration has a lot of potential for a favorite meal and/or great experience in this place.
You can bring your family, or you can bring your best buds. You can come by yourself and be perfectly satisfied!
Sports very available in the cantina. Tranquil booths in cantina and restaurant side. Either way, you don't have to be a drinker, or you can love your beers/cocktails ( responsibly, of course).
Give it a try. They know family. They know friends, they know solo, they know business. You're...
Read moreFirst time there and was So Disappointed! Meal started off with typical Salsa and chips. Terrible salsa with a strange sweetness! Never had a bad salsa at any Mexican place ever! What salsa we ate left such a bad taste in our mouths we couldn't fairly judge our entrees, but either a tamale or enchilada had an unwanted taste of cinnamon, and the tamale was mush around the filling. The refried beans which came with the salsa were a thin watery liquid with not a bean in site. An ordered soup bowl was near to tasteless with huge chunks of vegetables that could have required cutting to get them into your mouth. Our quesadilla was unappetizing looking, and greasy. The We had no problem with the service, but for us the food was not good. Sorry, very bad experience! We will not be back! Too many good Mexican food places in Salem to settle for such as the Los Arcos. UPDATE! After several years I reluctantly revisited this restaurant and had a fantastic experience! Everything was perfectly prepared and delicious! How on my previous visit could things have gone so wrong? So happy I tried Los...
Read more1st time here.. been to many Mexican restaurants in Salem and love to give great reviews when I find a good one.. nice ambiance, but the food was ordinary, didn't have the authentic spices I'm used to tasting when in Mexico (very americanized).. I had Enchilada and Tamale combo plate (absolutely nothing authentic about all of it_probably the wrong chiles being used), my daughter ordered a Mojada Frita plate (they came out with 2 small over-fried fish fillets (and not the authentic full fish fry that is the norm in Mexican Cuisine).. and maybe they heard me and my family critiquing the food, because the service became distant.. (I understand, I really do) however, I still gave a $10 dollar tip on my $54 bill and the nasty waitress took an additional $10 extra when I saw my credit card balance.. Or maybe, they just don't like blacks. To it's credit, the plates that are served look picturesque, BUT SORRY Los Arcos, you are ultra-ordinary! ..... and maybe a little crooked!!.. If you don't know Mexican cuisine, anything will taste good to you and this is the...
