Honestly love this place. It was my second try at Indian food, and their Butter Chicken cannot be beat. Five spice levels for their entrees and medium is a really good balance.
What they do right: Flavor- honestly, some of the best recipes I've had after trying multiple other Indian places.
Variety- lots of entrees that all taste good.
Side Dishes- Samosas are delicious and large. Garlic Naan recipe seems to use dried minced garlic, but it feels like a better balance because the bread is well seasoned.
What they don't do so well:
Pricing/Portions- It's about $14-$17 for an entree and the amount of meat you get is low in comparison to other establishments. That said, the flavor keeps me coming back despite this. Expect to spend $20 for a meal and a side.
Time- In comparison to the other restaurants at the yard, this one is slower because everything is made small batch and cooked to order. It's a good thing but it has drawbacks. They've never gotten my order wrong and it's always been extremely fresh, but the more you order the longer it takes.
All in all, a great option at The Yard and it really gives a home cooked meal feeling. It feels like comfort food made for you, and there's a lot...
Read moreI love Spicee bite! I recently moved to the area, and happened to have the privilege of trying a wide variety of their dishes at a work funded picnic. I’ve always been a very picky eater when it comes to meat, but because of Spicee bite I have discovered I LOVE lamb! This review will specifically relate to the downtown location for dining in- the restaurant is very clean, the bathrooms even smell nice! Customer service is great, they are very attentive checking in to make sure you are enjoying your meal, that the spice level is right, and if you need any further accommodation. They give you a large bottle of water for easy refills at your own pace. The portions are very generous as well, I can never eat more than half of what they give me which makes it perfect for sharing, or having leftovers. The meat is always tender and trimmed well- I’m usually the kind of person to pull pieces of meat out of my mouth after chewing and discovering excessive fat or gristle and lose my appetite- but that has not been my experience when dining here. It’s a huge relief knowing I can trust the consistency in quality, and eat without worrying about what I’m biting into....
Read moreThe food was fine but my biggest problem was the poor customer service. My wife and I stood directly outside of the window some time before we were acknowledged. Once we were, the employee grumbled a few words as my wife ordered her Chicken Tikka Masala. She may as well have used a kiosk to order her food.
So they never even told her how long she would be waiting for her food, and stood around waiting for about 20 minutes. Her buzzer went off and when she turned it in. Nothing. Just shoved the food at her.
Thanks to the lack of communication they failed to mention they had overfilled her box with too much sauce. When she tried to open it, the sauce came pouring out. It scalded her because it was extremely hot and it stained her dress as well which now has to be tossed out.
This is a stark contrast to an Italian cart I went to nearby (Pastatastic) that were friendly and warned me to grab the box by the sides due to how hot the food still was.
Not a great...
