When I came in yesterday, there was this all too familiar atmosphere. That subtle disdain I felt could be dismissed as the locals not knowing who I am since I've never been in there before. As I was seated and waited on by a lovely young woman, it made the experience better. Today was a whole different story. The same disdain continued on from yesterday, though I hoped since I patronized the establishment the previous day, it would at least lessen. Unfortunately, it was worse. I was seated and began to look at the menu when, a few minutes after I was seated, a party of 5 was seated. They were immediately attended to while I remained unnoticed. When ten minutes went by and I still wasn't attended to, I decided it was time for me to leave. I didn't think it was up to me to get the attention of the server when the restaurant was not busy, and I admittedly stuck out like a sore thumb. I can only attribute the clear lack of desire to serve me as a product of the disdain I stated before..which was this is a whites only establishment, you can be a person of color working there but please don't come in as a clear person of color to be served..you will be disappointed..*note: the manager watched the entire situation and was the manager on duty the previous day and did absolutely nothing but smile in my face as I walked out, which confirms my assumption that only whites are welcome at this restaurant. UPDATE: After speaking to Melissa about the situation, she went above and beyond to correct the problem. I'd like to say that I was wrong for making the assumption about the restaurant and I would to say personally say that the service and food were excellent. I really appreciate Melissa and the staff for their...
Read moreWe stopped in as we were coming from CA to TX and were looking to sit down and eat and relax from driving. As we entered the restaurant everything seemed fine. The restaurant didn’t seem to be too packed. The host greeted us and stated she was going to take us to the back. I made a joke and said you don’t like us and wanted to put us in the back. She stated know it is just we are doing it by sections. I didn't think anything of it at first, but soon began to notice that the host was not seating anyone else in the back where we were. There were at least 5 other parties that arrived after us. Just as a FYI my husband and son are black American and I am Caucasian and Asian. My husband and I have both served in the military, myself for 26 years and my husband for 21 years. I am not sure if this is the case or not but it felt as if we were seated in the back because of my husband’s ethnicity. There no one other black American in the diner either. But it made me feel very uncomfortable thinking we were seated in the back because of our ethnicity. On a positive note our server Caden was very courteous to us and made sure they we were satisfied with our meals. We were also greeted by another server Antonio when we were seated and greeted us as well and asked us how we were and where we were coming from. Both of these servers were awesome in making sure we...
Read moreOur waitress, Elizabeth W., is a most thoughtful & caring server. When I ordered a mug of hot water (I'm recovering from a nasty bout of COVID), she kindly brought me a coke glass filled with ice in case the mug was too hot for me. When I asked them to undercook my wild salmon as it's usually over cooked & dry, she told me they're required to get it to a certain temperature, but her manager was standing by with a thermometer to pull it off the grill the moment it met the requirement. It was still dry & overcooked, but their kindness & attention to ensuring I was satisfied were superb. Elizabeth W. did offer to have another cooked fresh for me, but I didn’t want to put them through more trouble. My husband, who is not fond of salmon, decided to take it with him & create something else with it for himself later...maybe as crumbles on a salad?
I haven't ever had the pleasure of such sweet, caring attentiveness in Denny's. If you wish to be well looked after & treated with genuine kindness, come here & ask for...
