I loved coming here until this past Friday, 03/15. I had a waitress named “Alisha” that was so, so rude and I still don’t even think she understands why she messed up. Me and my husband came there and ordered the 3 sushi roll deal for $17.95. When we got the bill, we saw that our 3 roll deal was coming up $20.95 on our receipt. I decided to bring this up - since both me and my husband got this, this is a $6 difference that wasn’t expected. Alisha did not like the fact that I brought this up from the get go. I don’t know what else I was supposed to do in her eyes, but this was the start of her just absolutely despising me. She came back, explained that the manager would not take off the charges since I wanted the spicy mayo and eel sauce on top of my sushi and not on the side, it would be a $.50 charge per roll. I let her know that I would’ve appreciated her telling me that before I got my receipt, as I just ordered it as so - “could I please have the ocean city roll, the New York roll, and the Philly roll with spicy mayo and eel sauce on top” (like I always do here). When she took my order, she didn’t warn me of the $6 more that would be added on. She just carried on as if everything was still going to be $17.95. After this little exchange, she just looked at me and walked away. I was so confused and very uncomfortable. 5-10 mins later she comes back laughing and shaking her head, but of course stops as soon as she sees me. The nice manager came over and explained everything to me. I told him that this all fine and not a big deal at all, really. I’m just asking. Of course, she barely will make eye contact with me, even when I’m talking directly at her. I was literally about to cry because I felt as though I am not in the wrong here, people were all looking at me, and all I wanted to do was leave. She came back with fake, passive aggressive happiness and “empathized” with me by saying things like “I hate when the manager comes over and makes me look bad”, “I still don’t know how I’m supposed to know this but I guess it’s a hefty amount.” When we had our little back and forth, she commented - “okay, how was I supposed to know that the sauce had an added price?”. Girl, if YOU don’t know the price, why can I not question this price difference I see? She took this situation very personal for unknown reasons. I was being as pleasant and kind on her as I could, as I was simply just asking a question. I left a small tip and wrote “don’t take everything so personal and fix your attitude, not everything is about you.” As we left, she just about followed us out the door and yelled “thank you ma’am for the lovely message!” In a sarcastic tone. I told her that I loved her, because it’s obvious that’s what she lacks in life. I sincerely hope that doing that made her feel better, seems that she could use a win in life.
I will not be back. I can’t believe the manager lets their servers do this. I was never expecting any backlash. She could’ve just said “oh wow, I didn’t know there was a charge for sauce on top. I’m sorry! Let me check on that for you.” And even if the manager couldn’t make it work, that is so much better than being super passive aggressive and blatantly rude to me. I hope managers see this and work with you to get better, as it’s their fault you’re under-trained.
This was my lunch spot with my best friend. I’ve had great memories here but like I said, I will not be back. The food was amazing, by the way....
Read moreThe inside of the restaurant is very nice. However, that quickly goes away once the service begins. The waitress took our drink orders and walked away. We were ready to order when she came back, but she walked away again. She came back and asked if we wanted appetizers. We said no. Then she has to hold on a minute and then didn't come back for another couple minutes. She asked if we were ready to order and we were. My wife got the chicken and shrimp hibachi. I got the Teriyaki steak Benton. This was another red flag because our order came out in under 5 minutes. Her chicken and shrimp we're slightly above room temperature. My Teriyaki steak was the same. Since I ordered mine medium well, it should have taken a lot longer. However the meat did appear to be medium well. The flavor of the Teriyaki was horrible, the flavor of the Hibachi was terrible, the California rolls that came in the Benton we're disgusting oh, and the pork dumplings that came in the Benton we're probably about the only edible thing in the whole dinner. This was a one-time visit and we will not...
Read moreHorrible. The heat was broken and instead of closing down while getting someone there to fix it immediately like normal responsible owners do, they remained opened and charge people foolish enough to stay full price.
Shame because we went there last Christmas Eve and had a wonderful dinner. We were trying to make it a tradition to do so but not no more. Tonight’s $60+ dinner for 2 was nothing short than eating outside and the temperature tonight was 18 degrees. We stayed a whooping 36 minutes before taking our very cold entrees home. Needless to say, they’ve permanently lost a customer.
Note. If a restaurant has space heaters leave. If they have no value for their customers but to let them sit in a cold restaurant, serving them cold food because the hot food turned cold on the short trip from the kitchen to the table, leave immediately - RUN. They don’t want your business. Tokyo up the street also has Hibachi grills. Suggest you go...
