My dudes, Atomic Biscuit is Ground Zero for biscuits in Salt Lake City. If fallout is made up of the goodness in the biscuits here, then call me Oppenheimer and blow me up.
Seriously, the biscuits here are the star of the show. I got the Keep’n It Classy, a glorious biscuit stuffed with eggs, cheddar cheese and a side of bacon. This is no Pillsbury out the can biscuit or flat one you got at scout camp (let’s not speak of that ever again). This biscuit is built to deliver a meal. Crunchy on the outside with a pillowy density that delivers in every bite. So good that I got a second biscuit to take advantage of the jam bar. More on that shortly. Let me just say these guys know how to make bacon. It’s crisp. None of this greasy, flapping in the wind bacon. It’s a hit. The other folks in my party got waffles and they loved them. One is a guy from Georgia who said, “They sure beat Waffle House.” High praise? Now the jam bar - do not miss the mango rosemary. It is absolutely sublime. It elevates the biscuit to new heights and the rosemary pops in at the last minute in the best of ways. The blueberry lemon zest is excellent as well. It’s jumping with actual blueberries that you can see.
The owner makes these jams, which is mind blowing when you see how she’s hustling in this small place. She was bussing tables but taking the time to engage with her customers. Found out she was raised on a fruit tree farm, so she knows from fruit; hence, the banging jams on offer. You’ll gladly dive under your desk for an A-bomb drill if it means more jam as a reward.
Service is good. They really do their best to hustle. You order at the counter and find a table. On a Saturday, that’s tricky. This place is popular. So with that comes lots of chatter but it’s a fun environment. Parking kind of blows but that’s no reason to not come here.
Atomic Biscuit is a terrific addition to the SLC food...
Read moreWe came to try this new place after driving by a couple times. Let's just say this place is super small, but there is no order or process once inside so it feels even more crowded and smaller than it actually is. We opted for takeout due to this. We ordered 4 dishes. The employees are not friendly, dont really know what they are doing, and need more training. It took about 15 minutes for them to enter our order of 4 dishes since they had to keep chasing down the manager to get it "unstuck".
After about 30 minutes of waiting we asked for an update. The employee said, "I am not sure, I hope nothing is wrong... Let's wait another 10 minutes." We decided to try their freshly squeezed OJ while waiting more, it is 1000% not freshly squeezed and instead poured out of a store bought carton. After 10 minutes we followed up again and he said he would go check. When he came back he said 5 more minutes. Luckily for us he was right.
When we got home 3 of the 4 meals were correct and they were enjoyed. However, everyone agreed the price is quite high for the portion size. I ordered the SPRING FORMAL BENNY and that was royally messed up. It's supposed to have Biscuit sun-dried tomatoes cream cheese, fresh tomato, spring salad, marinated artichokes, poached egg, hollandaise, and balsamic vinaigrette dressing. It DIDN'T have sun-dried tomatoes cream cheese, marinated artichokes, or hollandaise. Instead just a super dry biscuit, a slice of tomato, lettuce with dressing, and HAM(on a vegetarian menu item).
Between the poor service, lack of process or order, and the incredible mess up of the food, I will most likely not be returning here. Dozens of amazing breakfast/brunch places for us to choose from. If you want a great biscuit, with amazing service, and a great overall experience, do yourself a favor and go...
Read moreI really wanted to give this 5 stars but I just couldn't. I was excited to eat here for the first time today. I got there right after they opened.
Ordering was definitely not my favorite. It was so awkward to walk up to the counter with everyone else, trying to grab a menu, and then trying to decide on what you want to order. The fact that the tables say "Reserved" for people who have table numbers was odd. I would have preferred to sit down to figure out my order then to stand around in a tight space with lots of people, or have a server or two would be even better.
I ordered a chai latte hot. It was brought out pretty quickly, but unfortunately, it was warm at best. I did like the inch of foam they had on it though, but not the temperature of it.
I decided to order The Filthy Animal because I love biscuits and gravy. I love light and airy, fluffy biscuits, I mean who doesn't? That is not what I got. My first bite was the top of the biscuit. It was dense and tasted like baking power/soda. The bacon was thick and good. The gravy had a couple of small pieces of sausage and was transparent. No pepper and no flavor. I saw the gravy in photos here from reviews, and mine looked nothing like that. There's was thick and creamy. Mine was liquid. The chicken fried steak was good other than there was no crisp to it.
Overall, for what I spent for 1 person, over $25.00 (Chai Latte, meal and a tip) I can't justify returning. I really was hoping to love this place but sorry, I...
