Save your time and sanity, and go somewhere else. Bjornās Brew is 2 minutes away, fast, and serve outstanding coffee.
After my tenth visit to Honest Abeās Coffee today and attempt to buy something, I am giving up, since Iāve never been able to order anything, theyāre randomly closed during their hours of operation (plainly stated as 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM). If thereās a car or two in front, donāt expect to get served. On my first visit, I waited behind one car for 15 minutes, and nobody answered or said anything on the speaker.
Today, finally, it appeared that I would have a chance to try it out⦠When I pulled up to the speaker at 7:43, not a sound. I drove up to the window, and someone was clearly inside and clearly saw me, and still, nothing. I finally noticed a tiny, torn post-it note (see attached) saying they would open at 8:00. The barista made no attempt to explain while I sat there before seeing the āsignā.
If the owner or manager reads these reviews, your business does not function in the AM hours. I have seen more cars drive away in frustration than actually be served, and count myself among that demographic. The building is dingy and dirty, thereās bits of duct tape smattered about. Some coffee shops can get away with that sort of ādiveā appearance because they serve excellent products, but this just looks neglected and badly run.
How this little coffee shack can stay in business is beyond my comprehension, speaking as the former general manager of a local coffee franchise with multiple locations.
They must serve something to someone⦠I just donāt know what. I hate to think it, but I cannot imagine that it will be in business much longer.
I donāt recall ever leaving a one star review before (or many reviews of any rating), because they tend to offset the overall average and typically come from someone thatās freaking out over one visit or tiny detail. In my case, I simply donāt know how else to rate a business thatās incapable of serving a willing customer thatās...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe moved into the neighborhood two years ago and this is our go-to spot for coffee. We've gotten close with the majority of the baristas there and always appreciate the impeccable service they provide!
Coffee is flavorful but not too sweet. Their house made syrups have completely spoiled me, especially their lavender. We always make time to get Honest Abes before any trip, or as our special pick-me-up during the week.
This place is not Starbucks, the small shop can range from one to three baristas so going during rush hour can be tricky if you want a tight turnaround time. I don't mind the wait time because of the quality of service and drinks, but I don't go there if I am in a rush.
The baristas are all fun people to chat with and they always provide a welcoming atmosphere. A few even have my drink order memorized! A reason my partner and I love going is the coffee and the people. Thank you Kellie, Sara, Gabby, Victoria, and Leo for your great work! Shout out to the other baristas that we haven't gotten to know yet.
Since moving to Salt Lake City I appreciate having places like this where I get coffee and a sense of community! I do think they need a menu for the people walking...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI keep trying to give this place the benefit of the doubt because it seems like a nice local shop. But every time I go, I end up just wishing I went to McDonaldās across the street.
If youāre OK with waiting, they have great coffee. But it just takes so long. The large latte I got today has zero coffee flavor. It seems like they just gave me a single shot of espresso. So if you do go, just get the small sizes. The large taste like warmed up milk
It definitely wasnāt worth waiting in line for something else. I would have been another 20 mins. Also saw the car in front of me just leave without ordering or...
