We were going to eat somewhere else, but it was closed for vacation, so we decided to go here since it was close by. It wasn’t horrible, but it was definitely not a great experience. After taking our drink order, the waitress was gone for about 10 min before she came back with just 1 glass of water. They were out of Dr. Pepper, and the tea that 2 of us ordered was being brewed at the moment. Ok, no biggie. Hubs ends up just getting a water and our teas which we get after another 5 min or so. In the meantime we had ordered 2 appetizers, Nanjos and mozzarella sticks, and our meals at the same time. Well, out comes the cheese sticks and my order of spaghetti and meatballs. A few min later, out come the nanjos. 5 min after that, my daughter gets her chicken fettuccini Alfredo. Aaaannd between 5-10 min after that, they bring out my hubs chicken parm. So there was about 15-20 min wait for my husbands food to come out, from the time the very first food item was brought to us. We were pretty much done eating by the time he got his food. Now onto the food itself. The cheese sticks and nanjos were great. A lot of places sell the “rojo” type potatoes, and these are some of the best ones I’ve had. The spaghetti was ok, but had way too much sauce on it. I would’ve never thought that possible, but it was just swimming in sauce. And the meatballs…no bueno. If you have had chef boyardee meatballs, that is what they tasted like. The sauce on the chicken Alfredo was broken. You could just see the butter pooling beneath the noodles, and the chicken it came with was def not a fresh cooked chicken breast. It was some sort of already processed and sliced pieces of “chicken”. My daughter barely ate a few bites and didn’t eat anymore. My husbands chicken parm was prob the best plate, as he had no major complaints. Lastly, and prob most importantly, if you pay with a credit card, they will charge you 3.99% fee. That’s not told to you beforehand by the server, but there is a small sign on each table that states their terms. Luckily we happened to have enough cash to cover our bill. My last complaint about the service goes to the waitress. We didn’t have the money out to pay when she gave us the bill, so she said she’d be back when we were ready. Well, she never came back, and after waiting 15 min, we just left the cash on the table and left. Maybe the pizza there is good, or some of their other dishes are better, but sill never know, because we won’t be going back. Edit: The date we went was...
Read moreLily’s has been open for 2 weeks and a day. I look them up on Google, because I’ve heard they’re good - and I see a review for a “5” and another for a “1”. Knowing the owner’s TREMENDOUS commitment to customer service (he is also the owner of Napoli’s), I immediately read the “1”, to find out what they could possibly have done to merit such a bad review. The answer? Nothing. Reviewer says he experienced average service and the food was average. Wow! You give the WORST possible rating to a restaurant that has literally just opened, because they are just as good as everyone else in town? No disrespect, but you OBVIOUSLY have NO idea what it’s like to own your own establishment. So, the first part of this review is actually a review of that “1” review - completely unwarranted and incorrect.
NOW, for Lily’s - first, they JUST opened. So, naturally, they’re working out the kinks. 🙄 I called in an order to go, and was told it would he ready in 10. I headed to Lily’s and in about 9 minutes, was surprised to get a call from them, saying that my order was ready. I have NEVER gotten a call from ANY pizzeria, saying that my order was ready. I’m 50. So, from the start, the service was ANYTHING but average. Their ambience is that of a beer and pizza place, across from a college (though decidedly more “upper crust”) - see what I did there? And I found the pizza to be on par with the only other custom pizza restaurant in town - excellent.
And for the restaurant owner and spirit? I know of maybe 4 customer service phenoms in San Angelo food service - and Bekim Zeka is one of them. If you’d like to know why I feel that way, or who else is on that list, let me know! And for the guy who rated them “1”, please feel free to message me; I’d love to take you for another meal at Lily’s - my treat, no kidding! Let me help you to change your review, by showing you what quality customer...
Read moreWe went there to Lillys excited based off the reviews and this is what happened: The fun kid side was dirty, it’s old and rundown and the bus person didn’t clean the table seats. It was slow and the workers were standing behind the counter eating; had no clue that’s not ok The table we sat at had old soggy sugar packs sitting in its container (gross!) they don’t look? The cooks were all lounging around. One cook scratched his head, didn’t have gloves on and went to make pizzas. The four plates we were given, one had food on it while the other had a hair. We handed those back. They had cool music and old vintage arcade games. Cartoon murial on the wall, a fun look The salad was good and the pizza was ok, nothing special. The waitress was nice and explained that the owner never had a real restaurant before. We could tell because it was dirty and the workers were unprofessional eating behind the counter and lolligagging. The men’s restroom was disgusting and smelled horrible. I was glad there was soap and paper towels to say the least. Summary: They need to get a consultant to come in and give them advise after watching them for a couple of days. This would probably improve the business traffic as people tend to come to a place because of what they don’t see, not just because of what they do want to see. I think it had a bar type of feel because of the dirty look and not very organized workers. Also, the pizza needs to be improved to wow people since it’s off the main stream classic chain style offerings out there. In other words they want to offer something different but they...
