They are pricey, but I’m not going to complain too much about that because we already knew that it was going to be a bit more expensive before trying this place out. For the price though, I would’ve expected the food to be of higher quality and taste. We decided to try out their brunch. I was really excited to try the chicken and waffles, but upon sitting down and looking at the menu, noticed they were no longer offering it. I was pretty bummed since that was the main reason we decided to go there. In the end I chose the French toast and my husband got the burger, which he was told was one of their best menu items. The food was okay. Nothing special at all. In fact, the French toast was soggy/mushy in the middle, and I didn’t care much for the syrup they used. It tasted sort of citrus-y. I’m sure that is the upscale aspect of it, but it just wasn’t much to my liking. Plus, they put the syrup on it for you, so there wasn’t quite enough for me. I guess I could’ve asked for more, but I just dealt with what I had on my plate. Most of the little fruit cup that came with it was sooo sour and unripe. I had to use some of the whip cream that came on the French toast to try and sweeten it up some. Potatoes were good and the bacon was probably the best thing on the plate. You can almost never go wrong with bacon! As for the burger. It was a burger. Nothing spectacular at all. It came with some waffle fries that looked no different than the ones you get at Chick Fil A. They needed a little salt, but there was none on the table. The service was great though. The waiter was really friendly and checked on us often. I’m sure there would be other things on the menu that I’d probably like, and maybe wouldn’t mind paying extra for, but on this visit, it definitely wasn’t worth the price. We ended up spending $40 for French toast and a...

It's a little place nestled in downtown San Angelo. The decor is more on the rustic side, with visible ducts on the ceiling and faded brick walls, but it certainly still tries to have some fun with itself with colorful art canvases and the black/neon bar.

This theme carries through to the waiters and general feel of the whole restaurant: it's nice, but you don't feel judged for wearing just normal clothes. If you showed up in a nice, full coverage set of PJs, I'm honestly not sure they'd care. That's how laid back it felt, but the decor is also nice enough that wearing "out on the town" or other, dressier items, would also fit in very well.

There's a decent selection of alcoholic beverages to choose from, from beers, to wines, to more fun and fruity drinks.

The food is reasonably priced for the menu item: some items (mostly the apps/tapas) are $10 and under, while the entrees are $10+, with some of the more expensive items being over $30, and those items, for quality, you expect it to be that much.

They do offer children's food, and both of those were $6 - extremely reasonable for a kid's meal.

We had the ceviche, burger, and a grilled cheese - everything was delicious, however, i guess my kid likes my grilled cheese more than this place, i guess i make a very good grilled cheese! Still, he left very full and happy, so I'm happy.

The wait staff was extremely friendly and easy going.

Overall, i enjoyed...

I’ve been here 3 times. The first time was our best experience but still wasn’t amazing. We had bolognese pasta and the ribeye (i think) both were good but nothing too memorable. Second time I went with friends and got the tacos and they were “meh”. The 3rd time we went was probably our last time. We ordered sweet potato fries to start and those were the best part of our meal. My husband got the shrimp and grits and it had no flavor and lacked salt. I ordered the birria bowl. I asked them if I could get rice instead of ramen since I am sensitive to gluten. They gladly asked the kitchen if it could be done and they said they could. But the waitress says to me “I asked the kitchen and they said I guess we can” basically telling me they didn’t want to. It was something along those lines. So made me feel like an inconvenience. I worked in restaurants for 12 years, serving and bartending and I would never tell a customer that’s the reaction I got from the cooks even if it was. It was just a bit strange. Ok back to the birria bowl… they made it with rice which was nice but it was soooooo salty I couldn’t even eat it. It was so so so bad. I took as many bites as I could just so I wouldn’t be hungry anymore but it was terrible. Would not recommend. The atmosphere is cool and their cocktail menu is nice. If we come back we would only come for maybe an appetizer...

This restaurant is co-owned by a military veteran. I advised server Ashley that me and a guest are both veterans. My guest drove 100 miles to meet me. I choose Urban Salt because it was veteran owned and I had eaten there on the day it opened. Did I make a mistake? READ ON The server told the veteran owner (who was seated at the bar) that I was a vet. This vet owner didn't come (20 feet) and say hello, welcome or even thank me for coming to his restaurant. One would think that an owner would be more welcoming to a fellow veteran/guest??? VERY DISAPPOINTED. UPDATE: I was informed by female co-owner that the guy at the bar was NOT CO-OWNER. so I stand corrected he was exec chef and a vet. My food as well as my guests food was served cold, both dishes sat on the pass for at least 10 minutes before we were served, there was maybe 8 people in the entire restaurant. I have many chef friends that own restaurants in Houston and Dallas. I have been in all their kitchens and they are immaculate in cleanliness. The attached picture is what I could see from where I was seated. The cooktop area as shown from the picture is caked with???. Will I come back?????? NO. REMEMBER Urban Salt -- customer service goes a long way. This post was/is NOT intended to hurt this business BUT rather give a diners viewpoint.
