Came here on Wed with my family. Needed to sit outside because we have a relative that is fighting cancer and it's safer to be outside away from others. I loved the layout of the inside of the restaurant. Very nice set up, cool aesthetic.

Outside was small but fun for us because we have a baby who got to sit out on the red couches. The weather was gorgeous so the made it pleasant.

Service was a miss. She took a long time to get to us, and then in the end she KEPT asking us when we were going to leave. We wanted another round of drinks after our food, but she kept prompting us to close out. Why wouldn't you want us to drive up our tab to increase your tip? It was annoying. We don't get to spend a lot of time together so this was important for us, and she threw it off.

The food was pretty good. The queso tasted funky, almost burnt so a few of us couldn't eat it. Blackened catfish was so good! The chicken fried steak was hearty, and I found myself stealing bites from my mom. The Kale salad with steak was more steak with some kale leaves. Not really a salad at all. My brother in law loved the angry burger, he said the spices and flavors were perfect. The prices just seemed really high for the size of the dishes.

On to the drinks: the mexican martinis were good, but had a bit too strong of an olive juice taste, and orange juice pulp(?) was left in the glass. That made it ok. My sister and Mom enjoyed the margaritas.

All in all it's a pretty decent place, might argue there are better places with better prices elsewhere. Service could be better and I fully believe that could have turned around the experience.

Edited in response to owner/management: We sat outside about 3pm the Wed before Xmas, server was young, short, and blonde. She was probably 18-22 and I can only assume from her demeanor that this is probably her first waitressing job. Our table was very obvious, aside from me and a really cute baby, everyone was over 6' tall. Our tab was $240. I've worked the service industry for a LONG time, maybe she was cut and ready to go home, but constantly handing us that stupid card reader thing when no one expressed an interest to leave was frustrating. We weren't in a rush to leave, and ordered drinks several times despite her insistence. Please read the room and let us...

The star is for the food, and the food only. Which was pretty good. Service was terrible, though. We went in at 4:30 on a Tuesday, party of (eventually) four. There were two other tables. Our waitress took our drink order, which took about 7 minutes to come out. We ordered the burger special while third in party was still 25 minutes out. She arrived, and had been there for about 15 minutes, when we noticed our food sitting in the window. This was about the time she finally got her beer, which was served warm. Also, we were told that it took so long because the ticket printer had come unplugged, and the bartender hadn't noticed. Our server was too busy on her phone to realize she hadn't brought a beer that had been ordered 15 minutes prior. Meanwhile, after having noticed our food in the window, we watched for about 5 solid minutes while another employee gathered sauces for our plates. Yes. Five minutes. For three ketchups, a mayo, a mustard, and a ranch. Then he disappeared and our food sat there for another 3 minutes before it was brought out. The heat lamp works well, though. Our food wasn't hot, but it was still warm enough to eat. Fourth in party shows up, and her order comes out a little quicker. Hers was also the only one that wasn't over done. We just figured ours came to very well done while resting under the lamp. Oh, and we didn't realize there is a complimentary bread and oil dip until we realized everyone coming in after we did got one. So. When a manager FINALLY came by the table, 2 hours after we got there, and as we were signing the checks, the only response we got when we voiced our concerns was, "That is definitely not our standard." Will I go back? Probably. The food was decent, and other plates we saw looked amazing. But will I do what I should have done this time and walk out if if the service was parallel to what we got tonight? Absolutely. I always give a place a second chance if the food is good. But when you are charging those kind of prices, you need to be able to back it up with more than just flavor. And your server doesn't need to Side Eye Chloe me when I leave a tip equal to...

An Oasis of Deliciousness: My Love Letter to The Angry Cactus! Sometimes, a change of scenery is just what the doctor ordered, and my recent drive from Dallas to San Angelo was a soul-soothing journey through breathtaking landscapes. The urban sprawl faded into rolling hills and wide-open skies – a much-needed mental palate cleanser that set the stage for what was to come. And what came next was nothing short of a culinary revelation: The Angry Cactus. From the moment you step inside, you know this isn't just any restaurant. The Angry Cactus boasts a vibe so distinctive, it's practically a character itself. But let's talk food, because, oh my, the food! The fork and knife burrito is not just a suggestion, it's a divine command. I went with the blackened catfish, and let me tell you, it was a match made in Tex-Mex heaven. "Delicious" doesn't even begin to cover it; this was a symphony of flavors that danced on my tongue. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the customer service swept me off my feet. The staff here isn't just attentive; they're genuinely comforting, going above and beyond to make you feel right at home. They absolutely exceeded every expectation I had. So, if you're ever in San Angelo – or even if you're not and need an excuse for a delightful drive – do yourself a huge favor and visit The Angry Cactus. It's a five-star experience from the food to the fantastic people. I highly...

Check out the video—5th image! Took it upon entering. A spontaneous road trip to West Texas found our evening stroll at this pearl nestled at the end of a well illuminated street. Earlier in the evening we were extremely disappointed with Google search on the offerings we were given. We went into three, left two immediately, visited one and thought there has to be more. So, perusing the streets we were rewarded with the Angry Cactus! We were not disappointed! It’s not fair to only give four ⭐️ , but I’m basing it solely on what we ordered which was an appetizer and brewskies. I’m sad to say we gobbled it up before we even had a chance to take a picture. Everything was served eloquently and pretty much to our liking. I must say that the oil for the bread could’ve used some more flavor or maybe the option of seasoned oils??? But a nice change from chips and salsa! I would definitely go out of my way to stop here again and oh by the way, Angry Cactus… Get with Google and get yourself up there! Because you deserve it!!! A shout out to the young man who waited on us—the staff was 100%! The atmosphere was 100%! Our earlier disappointing afternoon was rewarded with a cherry on top… Or rather an angry 🌵! Check out this hidden jewel!!!

The entrance with the giant green Angry Cactus is definitely a draw to folks wandering downtown! We couldn't resist!! There were several seats at the bar available so we grabbed a couple as that's our favorite place to sit! The service wasn't what we're used to when sitting at the bar, the bartender was pretty aloof and more interested in her co-workers. You win some you lose some! The cocktails were made well and the restaurant atmosphere seemed fun and casual, we'd definitely return, just not sit at the bar! The food was a bit hit or miss. The Skillet Nachos were excellent flavor wise with plenty of cheese and toppings, it's just that some of the chips were so stale and hard you couldn't bite into them! The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp were anything but jumbo, however they were good and I ate every last bite! Now, the Cajun Chicken Pasta, that's where it's at! That dish is absolutely delicious, spicey, cheesy and addicting!! Thank goodness it's such a huge portion too because we had plenty left over for another meal! Definitely a good hang out spot with potentially amazing food so I do recommend and will return if in the area!
