Buyer beware: $80 for 3 roses, 3 tulips, 3 lillies and filler in a plain glass vase
I called in a order from out of town based on the good reviews on Yelp and the lovely photos they had on their website. I asked for a cheerful, unique, jewel-toned arrangement for my 90 year old grandmother who was in the hospital. I explained to them that my Grandmother was very discerning and asked them to give the order to their best artist. I was informed that they cater exclusively to "high-end customers"- their words. I paid $80 for the arrangement.
The arrangement arrived promptly as promised, but what she received was three yellow roses, three stargazer lillies, three purple tulips and some filler material in a clear glass vase. I chose this florist because they claimed to have unique and artistic designs. This arrangement could have come from any florist... at half the price. Apparently in San Angelo "high-end" means something different than in San Antonio.
When I called to rectify the situation, they offered to create a new arrangement for my grandmother. The second arrangement was lovely, and they would have been happy to send it to her... for another $80. The other option was that they would go into my Grandmother's hospital room, take the original bouquet and leave the new one. Mind you, she had no idea about the florist's mistake and I certainly didn't want to tell her- a bad Google review has nothing on a bad Oma review! I feel that the original bouquet was not what I asked for and was very much overpriced for the quality of the blooms- you can see what appears to be browning/wilt on the yellow roses. I might have paid $40 or $50 for this arrangement but certainly not $80.
Even though they offered to remove the arrangement and replace it, I couldn't allow them to take away a bouquet from my sick 90 year old grandmother! How mean! Since I didn't want to pay $160 to receive what I originally asked for, I politely declined to have the second arrangement delivered to her.
I feel like Stemmed Designs CAN make beautiful and unique arrangements. The second one truly was very artistic and lovely- I would have been happy if she received that one originally. If you choose to use this florist, simply use caution. I would specify exactly what you want (maybe provide a photo) and pick it up rather than having it delivered to check on the quality first. I wouldn't recommend ordering from out-of-town and having it delivered sight-unseen to a loved one.
I am awarding two stars due to the promptness of the original arrangement and for the quality artistry of second (unpurchased) arrangement.
I would also recommend that the business update their website to reflect their current arrangements. Your website and the word of your staff is all out-of-town customers...

I worked in a flower shop for 8 years and I would not do business anywhere other then Stemmed Designs! I urge anyone that is not knowledgeable on flowers to do a little bit of research on the cost of certain flowers, ask questions when you place your order. You might pay $100 for a dozen roses but know that roses run about $5 or more a stem $5x12=$60 then add in the cost of a vase + filler and possibly labor, you’re looking at at least $15 for that so now you’re at $75 then add delivery fee plus tax so yeah your at about $100. Let your sales person know what you are expecting for your money and maybe that means you choose less expensive flowers so it looks larger & fuller. I saw another person give them 2 stars and they got lilies , roses and tulips and are complaining about $80, well depending on the season I’ve seen lilies run up to $10 a stem, tulips maybe $4-6 and roses $5. They are not mind readers, you need to let them know what you are expecting for your money and let THEM know if you are unhappy, I can promise you they will do what they can to...

Rudy wrote everything down that I asked for ,& the day of his viewing they weren't right . my mom sent them to be changed ,& they still WERE NOT RIGHT !!!!! Considering how much it costs you'd think they'd do it right the first time!! so Anyways I didn't send it back a second time I was more worried about being next to him for the last time ,& I shouldn't have had to worry that the arrangement wasn't right !!. so the funeral comes 2 days later,& we were expecting white roses With black ribbon for his Paul bearers ,& they were WRONG. I don't know what they were,but they were not roses like we requested,& no ribbon !!!! They ended up having to run to the place across from johnsons to get the white roses ,& black ribbon !! So disappointed that on the last time I get to tell my 24 yr old husband goodbye they couldn't get requests right that were put in ahead of time !!!!!!!!. I will never use...
