Literally three food items on the menu. They ran out of avocado. A key ingredient in their signature item, a barbacoa sandwich. Send someone to the grocery store!! You were going to be open another three hours! Offer other options, like a tomato slice. Compensate me with a discount on a dessert or coffee. Not enough seating furniture, tables and chairs. There was dining room space taken up by a very large decorative table, completely unnecessary. Had to wait a very long time for drinks. Then waited even longer for food. Wait staff seemed extremely inexperienced. We had to ask for paper napkins, salt and pepper shakers. No smiles to be found. Cashier spoke in a soft, exhausted voice, acted more like a court reporter than a welcoming host. She held up the line because she was waiting for a table order number to be returned by a staff member who was sent to look for them. Coffee refill requires a cut through the line of people waiting to place their order. This place could be so much better if they had professional guidance. Owner walked out of kitchen to greet a friend and walked him back into the kitchen to show him the remodeling progress. I wondered if he was the only one working in the back. The place was clean. The food was good. Took too much of our...
Read moreYou're definitely not getting great service if you're not a female and the manager (or owner) is serving you. Kinda felt awkward when he went from taking order from a group of girls and was being extremely friendly and asking where they're from, offering student discount, joking and laughing etc. Then I get up there and it's just "what can I get you" and I felt like I was being rushed. I think he was the cook too, so when I ordered food it took a long time to get it cause the same guy walked around the whole restaurant talking to different people before cooking it. Literally said "man lemme start cooking this food before I forget" about 15 minutes after I ordered. However, I'm a realist and understand different strokes so I was still optimistic and the food was great, the drinks were great, and the atmosphere from the other workers presented was phenomenal. I definitely will be back and this place does deserve...

So I had been meaning to stop by for a long while since I pass by it every day on my way to work, and I'm so glad I finally did.
It's great to find a place that has meatless options where your non-vegetarian friends will also enjoy. I got the grilled cheese + tomato soup which were the bomb dot com. There is also free wi-fi so you can snapchat your lunch and all the cool art around as much as you want. I enjoyed this place so much I had to go back the next day to try the horchata latte!
Best of all Gilbert is really friendly and helpful and didn't get annoyed when my indecisive friend couldn't decide whether or not to get barbacoa in his grilled cheese (he says get it).
Do yourself a favor and explore all the cool local things San Antonio has to offer. Stop hanging out on the north side you...
