This was awful. We stopped here for dinner (my 4 kids and I). We were seated quickly but once seated everything went downhill. First of all, our waitress, Lilith, didn’t come to take our drink order for at least 15 minutes. She apologized and although she didn’t give a reason I was understanding. She took our drink order, our appetizer order (which was just chips and dip), and our dinner order all at the same time. Another 15 minutes went by and we noticed people who were seated much later than us were already getting their appetizers before us. Our waitress noticed that I noticed and said that the kitchen messed up but she was on top of it. Again, I was understanding as I know sometimes there are issues in the kitchen out of the waitress’ control. Another 10 minutes later we got our chips (notice we’ve already been here now for over 30 minutes). Then, after being there for about 45 minutes, our waitress returns to tell us that the kitchen somehow lost our order, she has placed a “priority rush” on it and it will be out shortly. This is where she stopped refilling our drinks, stopped making eye contact with me and I stopped being understanding. About 5 to 10 minutes later my kids receive their meal (although my daughter never got her salad). My kids eat their entire meal…I never got mine. At one point our waitress does acknowledge that I am still waiting for my meal, but doesn’t bother to give me a reason for it not being there yet. Finally after being there for almost an hour and a half I told her I wasn’t going to wait, my kids were already done and I wanted to pay and leave. She said she would remove my meal and the missed salad and she was sorry. I never saw a manager, never was even asked if I wanted to, wasn’t offered any compensation. I wasn’t even offered my meal to go. She removed my meal but I still had to pay for the salad because she apparently forgot to take it off and I already had to wait at least 5 more minutes for her to just remove my meal. I was extremely understanding until she claimed the kitchen lost our meal. I felt so disrespected. I left hungry and without dinner. My kids were shocked by the waitress’ cavalier attitude toward me at the end and couldn’t believe a manager never even bothered to come by to apologize. I paid $60 for that crappy experience. After the young man at the front door attempted to seat my party of four, including an obviously handicapped elderly woman in a walker, at a table in a tight corner, we waited an extraordinarily long time for a server to appear. She attempted to take our drink orders and leave, but, since it had been such a long wait and we were completely ready to order drinks, appetizers and entrees, I stopped her flight and had her take the complete order.
She returned quite some time later and (I have NEVER seen this done) promptly placed all four drink glasses in a huddle in the middle of the table and took off again!
She was obviously overworked; I went searching for a manger and spotted two servers , one bus person and the ever disappearing door person, who only popped out to seat the next party and then promptly disappeared again (maybe he was the cook/kitchen staff. Apparently our server was waiting on half the restaurant. This is a CHILI's and it was about a third busy! I never did locate anyone looking as if they might be in charge and did not want to disturb any of the four persons who were trying to keep things going.
The server never inquired about the quality of our food, never re-filled drinks and never cleared any plates. Once our food was delivered we never saw our server again until it was time to bring the check, which, for some unknown reason she placed between my wife and my minor child, even though I was clearly the host!
I left her a tip only because it was so obviously not her fault that she was so overwhelmed and had not received proper training. Yes, I know what proper server training looks like, I was in food service management for over 20 years and have trained hundreds of servers.
The server was, at the same time, very personable, and when she did appear, managed to maintain her composure and not show the fluster I am certain she felt.
Shame on the Manager of this restaurant and shame on the Chili's organization for letting one of their houses get into this condition!
We'll visit Chili's again, as it is my daughter's favorite, but not this location, even though it is closest...
Read moreYesterday evening at 5:35 my daughter and I check in. We were told it would be 45 min to an hour wait and In fact it was an hour before getting texted that a table was ready. We noticed that they had a small area selected for all of us to be seated at and in fact, close to each other, not spaced out. Therefore, the hour wait. FYI, if you are still trying to keep your distance for health safety, this is definitely not your restaurant. When we were seated, we were handed only one menu but we were two ppl. It was 12 minutes of us sitting there and no one came to our table to even ask what we wanted to drink. It took me stopping another waiter and asking him who our waiter or waitress was and if we could get service. 15 minutes passed and still no one taking our drink order not even an acknowledgement that we were there. Waitresses kept walking by but nothing. Eventually, the hostess that had seated us, passed by and noticed we were still just sitting there without even a drink and asked if we had our drink order taken to which I replied "we haven’t even been greeted." She was kind to take our drink order and stated she would figure out who our waitress was. Eventually, a waitress did show up. Took our order, then eventually brought our appetizer. She did not give us utensils or napkins. I found myself having to pull out a tissue from my purse. I had to stop another gentleman which I think was a manager and ask him for silverware because our waitress never came by. After all that bad service, the food was pretty bad as well. My ribs were so dry, the asparagus under cooked and hard plus also very dry, the broccoli had a bland flavor and over cooked. Simply bad service and terrible food. The guacamole and salsa were the only good thing. I didn’t ask my daughter how her bacon burger was but she did mention on her own that he corn she asked for as her side instead of fries, was pretty dry. We are paying customers and should at least be treated well and served good or decent food. Btw, the floor also felt sticky. I’m assuming it was dirty. Horrible experience from this Chili’s on NW...
