Chopstix Cafe — Restaurant in San Antonio

We visited this place for the first time with my wife and brother in law as we were craving chinese or vietnamese and we saw they had pho in the menu, so we thought perfect! Let’s do it! I’ll start by saying that my BIL is vegan and me and my wife are pescatarian, we checked the menu in advance and it stated that the vegetable pho came with vegetable broth, however when we asked the waitress she said it was beef broth. That limited our options but we ended up ordering a veggie fried rice, sesame shrimp and shrimp pad thai. The veggie fried rice was decent but when asking the waitress what came in it she just said “vegetables”. The sesame shrimp was probably the best item but the portion was quite small. And the pad thai was way too sweet and the noodles were too chewy, and it had a very strong vinegar flavor. The worst part, though, was that the broccoli that came with the sesame shrimp had little worms in it, and we unfortunately caught it near the end. We ordered food to go. The building inside was clean. Staff was friendly. Slightly on pricey side but considering the food tasted very good. We didnt mind it that much. Hard to find really good chinese in San Antonio. We would definitely rank this higher up than most. We will certainly return many times.

We ordered: pad sa-siew noodle We liked the flat noodles. Its not hand pulled which we crave all the time from a place off Bandera, but it is really good.

Beef and Brocolli Brocolli was cooked well and the beef had a really good flavor to it.

Jalapeno chicken and shrimp Some pieces had a kick to it. But it is not overpowering.

My husband had dinner plans and Dad and I originally had plans to meet a friend and her Dad for a Daddy-Daughter dinner. The weather was just too cold for elderly Dads to be out so we rescheduled.

Dad was happy to eat another American Dog (because we can never buy just one of Dad's favorites). I ordered for DoorDash to pick up food from Chopstix. Dad and I shared the Chicken Corn Soup. It had such good flavor. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai and Vegetable Delight. The pad Thai had a hint of spice. It was all very good. There's plenty of food for another meal.
