Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in San Antonio

UPDATE: Wednesday 26 February 2025. My husband made a drive thru trip to this location around 6pm.. We were pleased that it appeared out 8 piece mixed original recipe with coleslaw and okra was done correctly. Then we took that first bite of chicken. It was NOT the original recipe requested, but their spicy version. I don't like it. We kept the order, as it was here and we were tired, but it was so terribly disappointing. What's wrong with food service worker who can't get a simple, straightforward order right?

Came by today, Friday 21 Jan 2022. There was a long line around 2pm, but the lady taking orders on the drive through was very efficient, polite and spoke clearly. The line moved with smooth consistency and my order was exactly as placed. I love this chicken SO MUCH!! I'm glad this location has worked out the wrinkles I experienced previously. I'll be back!

I came here to the drive through after the lunch rush around 1PM on October 1st. The experience was GREAT. The lady at the drive through spoke clearly, was cheerful and polite, and brought out my order when it was ready. Excellent service, good Church's food that I always anticipate.

I've come here twice since my original posting. Each time I ordered a 12 piece MIXED original. The first time they told me they were totally out of white meat. Not delighted, but okay. Yesterday, March 17 2021, I again ordered a 12 piece mixed meal, with biscuits and fried okra. There was not a single piece of white meat in the order when I got home. My husband really prefers white meat. There were six thighs and six legs. What is wrong here? The chicken and sides are great, but why can they not get an order right?

Tuesday, May 23, 2023:. REDEMPTION! My husband and I did a drive through here around 1pm. We ordered a 12 piece mixed, with mashed potatoes and gravy, and okra. First, it was piping hot and stayed that way all the way home. Secondly, when I unpacked our order, the six pieces white and six pieces dark were boxed separately. Very good idea. The okra and potatoes were very good. Welcome back!

I went to this location to pick up some lunch for my coworkers and myself today. I ordered using the app. I picked up the food and brought it to the office. When I got to the office, it was all dark, I ordered mixed. There was fries, I ordered mashed potatoes, so I drove back. A young girl was behind the counter and I explained the situation. She she showed the receipt to the one who packed to food along with the box. The one who packed the box admitted she packed it and that they were out of white meat. If I wanted white meat I would have to order original. That is when I requested a refund. I am upset because they packed my food, knowing they didn't have what I asked for. Charged me for the white meat and basically expected me to be okay with it and not question it. That is the definition of audacity. Also, I had visited to this location last week, and they did not have spicy white meat. At least that time I was informed at purchase. I have decided to never visit this location again because the situation could've been handled completely different. They didn't even offer to make the order for me fresh. Sooooooo, 10/22/25 440pm I pull thought the drive trough and order the 10 pc family meal with 2 sides and 5 biscuits and pulled to window and was told there is wait ok no problem, they ask me to pull to the front fine, I get off to wait while I’m standing in lobby they asked me if I been helped I say yes just waiting for the spicy chicken, I believe the managers name is Liz and there is three other gentleman in the back, when I over hear the gentleman breading the chicken say “ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BE COOKING EXPIRED CHICKEN” the manger Liz then replies does it smell!!! Like omg I was like wow what kind of response is that!!!
