Today I had the opportunity to visit a thriving local Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is quaint giving you the feeling that you are eating at that little hole in the wall place that everyone in town just can't get enough of. I ordered the special of the day which turned out to be a very wise choice, I had the Crispy Taco Plate which comes with a tea and a side of chips and salsa. The Salsa was fantastic and the chips were light and crispy which for me is always a winning combination. This was just the priming phase as I had no idea just how well my edacity was going to fulfilled. The crispy tacos were nothing short of amazing, with homemade ground beef seasoned to perfection with the perfect tones of your traditional Spanish style seasonings. They were topped with fresh tomato, American cheese, and crispy lettuce, I opted for an addition of fresh sliced avocado. The Shells are made fresh daily and frankly that is probably the best part of this dish they are fried to a perfectly crisp consistency giving you that perfect crunch as you take the bite but they do not fall apart and that is priceless. The beans were not bad and after speaking to the waitress she informed me that they had previously won second place in a bean competition. She expressed that she would speak with the chef to see if something may have gone while preparing them. I will definitely give this place another try and hope that the bean recipe situation has been resolved. All in all I give this place a 4 star rating. So don't hesitate to give this place a try you...
Read moreWent there on a Saturday morning around 9 a.m. The place has great vibes, nice homey feel as if you are at your abuelitas house for breakfast, very lively. The smells are invigorating and the service is prompt. They have a GREAT health inspection score, you can probably search this on your own, but it is VERY clean and you can see the kitchen area how everything is orderly and clean. The food that comes out of that kitchen is DELICIOUS! If you are a 2 breakfast taco person, you may only need one. They are big portions, the tortillas are just like 'mom used to make'.. perfectly made, great taste. I had a migas taco and a carne guisada taco,, the migas are crispy strips, colorful good chip/egg ratio and the carne G was superb! Wear loose pants, bring a smile and an appetite and...
Read moreThe ambience for this small but amazing restaurant is top of the line.
Wait staff was hospitable and helpful. The waitress who served us is the owner's sister who herself is the main chef in the kitchen.
The restaurant has an A/100 cleanliness rating from the health department. This is absolutely commendable.
Breakfast was to die for. I had huevos ranchers and the refried beans was the best I've ever had thus far. Some of the best corn tortillas I've tasted thus far as well.
Their breakfast sides I had were sausage patties and were definitely home made from scratch. Absolutely the best ones I've tasted thus far.
It's difficult to not have a top notch authentic Mexican mom and pop restaurant in San Antonio but this one...
