H-E-B plus! — Local services in San Antonio

It's a typical HEB, good place to shop. However I have had more than few bad experiences with management. Accusing me of trying to return stolen merchandise-AS FREAKIN' IF- I DO NOT STEAL. I'm a practicing christian, and that's all I'll say about that part my hubby makes sure I never walk into a store, go shop, then leave desiring anything I couldnt buy myself. Another time they accused me of walking into the store grabbing something off the shelf and then trying to return it with a receipt that I found on the ground outside absolutely ludicrous! Now I did complain about this to a manager that was in charge of more than one store and I haven't seen that person since so you need not worry about that one being there but for the most part they are almost all the same very accusatory with no proof whatsoever. They go by what they think a shoplifter look like not by what they've actually seen with your own eyes or heard with their own ears. So you know just be wary of that but other than that ...the young employees there are Great, very energetic, willing to help, happy, smiling basically great teenagers that are actually willing and able to work and love the job. There are a lot of birds in this parking lot so if you have a fear I wouldn't go there there are millions of blackbirds in this parking lot don't know what the deal is about that anyway also there is a little snack stand outside they do have lottery ticket machines and a ecoATM where you can go sell old phones and also a little restaurant thing where you can go and buy food and eat. They've added some kind of vegetable / fruit New Edition I'm not really sure about that I haven't been there yet so but just you know so that it was said did I did notice its construction and I believe it's open now they do have more than enough of those little scooter things for when either you're disabled or you're not able to walk for whatever reason around the store and they have like a little section where you can buy clothes and stuff. They are very very expensive! I do want to say I really do admire whoever is in charge of this part of the store where they hire disabled high school kids so that they can learn how to work and then use the money in real life it's an excellent program that they have there and I admired them greatly for it because I have two autistic son's one did this program and benefited greatly from it. Review regarding the Zarzamora and Military H‑E‑B plus! 6818 SOUTH ZARZAMORA SAN ANTONIO, TX 78224-1136

Where to start regarding this HEB, They do a very poor job keeping out of date products off the shelves, this may in part be because they also fail to rotate products properly. When checking out they often have few registers available and even fewer baggers available. More to the point current management seems too limited for night shifts as i was told "I'm only one person" when i tried asking the manager why they had a few employees standing and talking together in the self check out area while not enough baggers to help those checking out in the register lanes. As the Holiday season is almost upon us perhaps they should add an additional manager at nights to help keep things running smoothly.

Overall just not a very clean organized well managed looking store.

Another interesting problem they are aware off for some time but never have fixed is if you check prices on the website (by pc) the prices are always higher than if you check the app for the exact same items.

I went to the Military and Pleasanton H‑E‑B and it was like night & day, so clean, respectful managers and cashiers, well stocked with a variety of items not available at the Zarzamora and Military H‑E‑B plus like numerous Gluten Free items. Plenty of baggers and registers open. The store layout is really nice. A very well managed clean looking store.

I would like to give my HEB a better review but it needs plenty of work going forward.

One other thing i would like to mention in hopes of things getting better, I purchased a 12" Pumpkin Pie from Sam's Club for $5.98 and it was delicious. I purchased a 10" Pumpkin Pie from the Zarzamora and Military H‑E‑B plus for $9.98 and it was terrible, Really bad recipe. Please look into getting a better recipe for Pumpkin Pie and Fix the Pricing discrepancy please...

Love my H.E.B.! They need more handicapped parking & they need more shopping scooters. There were several people waiting for scooters. Too many people that are not disabled use these carts. Update! The H.E.B.Plus @ 6818 s.zarzamora has a bit more electric shopping scooters but the are so over used and abused by people that either don't need them or are way too heavy to be riding in those scooters. It's still a challenge to find a decent scooter that doesn't creek and groan or move incredibly slow. The rest of the store is okay. The hot food area has not been good. It used to be good back in the day when they served breakfast but now all they have is the same old things to and you have to wait to get any of the other food items till 10:30am. They don't have any breakfast foods, no biscuits, no bacon &egg,no ham& egg, no chorizo & egg, no hot coffee, no iced tea. They took away the microwave, the televisions, but in doing this, it cut down the amount of homeless people and older people from camping out in the dining area all day. This H.E.B. used to be really nice and fun to go to but its changed and not for the better. It would also be nice if H.E.B. would put a sunshade or a roof covering the Viatrans pick-up/drop-off spot that is out in front of the store. During the summer it's incredibly hot and sunny and with no cover, it's really bad, and if it's raining, there's no cove anywhere unless you go back in the store but if you do that you risk missing your ride and Viatrans will not come back to pick you up. High grocery prices also are not helping either. Im hoping things get better. One other thing that I sure wish that H.E.B. would bring back would be the chinese food.
