Went on a Saturday and the place was busy. The kitchen was doing a good job of keeping pizzas coming to the buffet line.
The dessert station was slow. Had to wait a good while to get any cinnamon roles. So many wanted some that when they came out they were gone in 5 minutes and people were waiting once again.
The pasta station was empty. No pasta or sauces.
The salad bar was fairly well stocked.
The drink was out of sweet tea. Seems to be a regular occurrence at this CiCi location.
The food that they did have gets 4 stars. While it's not five stars pizza, for the price and all-you-can-eat, it's pretty decent. The salad bar is good. Good veggies, black olives, quality pickles (Classen), fair macaroni salad, and a good selection of dressings (which were full.)
Service gets 2 stars only because you expect all items to be available on the buffet area. Not keeping dessert and pasta bar filled was a big minus.
The atmosphere gets 2 stars because at this location people dress like they are at home lounging around. I would be embarrassed to go out dressed as many were. Also, parenting is lacking frequently. Kids run around and parents bark at them while the kids ignore them. Parents need to be parents. Manners are lacking. When some families leave, the floor around their table has food all over the place. The lack of parenting is what causes much of the friction and stress in many families.
When I go out to eat, I want to have a nice enjoyable time. Not having all products on the buffet table, having patrons so sloppily attired, and lack of parenting dampens the experience one hopes for. Consider these factors if planning to visit this location.
While the way people dress, parenting, and manners are not directly the restaurant's doing, they need to be aware that these things will cause some to not be returning customers.
I am not overly picky in general but, when things that are basic to the business, such as product availability, are lacking, it's not good. When several of its patrons are not up to par with basics in life (dress, manners, parenting), a desire to be a repeat...
Read moreFOOD: My wife commented on the food tasting better. After speaking to. David, the manager, said he tweaked things. He said the fomer staff would cook too much & the pizza just sat. When customers got the pizza, it didn't taste l fresh. David said hot and fresh tastes better. I agree. It's warmer, not lukewarm. He said other times, they wouldn't cook enough. The more popular pizzas were always out. Food is much better.
SERVICE: Great food is part of the service. Great job. The drink station had ice & the teas were full. Previously, before the new management, the ice and teas were frequently empty.
ATMOSPHERE: A clean restaurant means lots. David was seen cleaning. The busser was busy cleaning. Great job.
Fresh food, a clean environment, and a manager who cares make a business thrive. David has made this Cici Pizza location much better than it was.
KUDOS TO DAVID AND THE STAFF ON DUTY ON THIS SUNDAY EVENING!
5-4-25. The food went down after David, the manager, left.
The new manager female manager was into grabbing than working. Shee has since departed.
The current female manager is wonderful. She's very friendly and very on the ball about keeping the food line well stocked. She sees that the busses keep the place tidy. She is working two jobs. I say pay her well so she can work thus one only. She is a keeper.
The one complaint is that whomever does the tea need to fill the sweet tea urn eith sweet tea. On the last two visits ,both urns contained unsweetened tea.
The placevis not meant gourmet pizza. It iis meant yo offer a variety of tasty pizza, salad , pasta, and desert at a valued price. It fills its mission well.
You also have games for the kids and a variety of TV screens for spots watching.
Again, it is fulfilling its...
Read moreCici's here in San Antonio at 2335 SW Military Dr 78224. Dirty lobby, stale pizza and garlic rolls, pasta salad overflowing touching the refrigeration bin, unsanitary serving utensils, salad dressing containers left uncleanness with dressing smeared all over the bottles outside left sitting on buffet line and not place in the dressing slots to be kept cool. The restaurant wasn't busy at time of visit around 4pm with only around 4-5 tables seated. Both the owner and his manager standing around with another worker not addressing the state of the store. Had to bring to their attention not one but 4 different pizzas that were beyond eatable which working in the business no customer should have to point out the obvious. Ordered buffalo wings which took beyond 30mins to get...never got them because we left upset with a full refund. Special ordered a basic pepperoni deep dish because no deep dishes were on the buffet, waited 30mins because the manager claimed he didn't realized we requested deep dish. Only to finally get called to the buffet to a deep dish drenched in red sauce, one pepperoni per slice. At that moment is when we requested the refund and wings were still not ready. When I addressed the issues with the Manger he acted as if he wasn't listening to me totally ignoring me while the owner totally disappeared to the back unseen.
EDIT: since the management has responded NOTHING has been done to address the issue still to this day. Sad since this is the only location in the south side. Someone needs to make another or Cici's needs to take back this location. ILL SERVICED,...
