Extra Fine Monte Vista — Restaurant in San Antonio

Nice spot, and while the food is on the heavier, buttered, sauced, side of things, I try to come by every couple of weeks to find new menu items. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars however is because I really want this place to be GREAT! The last few times I came by for some beverages. While I know this isn't a coffee shop persay, the iced latte situation has recently gone downhill. It's basically a glass of plain milk. Not sure if that's because of the shot ratio, but it's really easy to tell that it's definitely not the right color. If you can taste it through the milk, the flavor of the espresso is pretty nice though / very strong toffee flavor - but the milk/espresso ratio is just wrong. Also, your "golden milk" is effed. Got that once and it is like drinking thick chalk. Believe me, I'm all about a good turmeric latte, but you guys are wasting your money handing out straight up yellow curry in a cup. Good beverages are all about the ratios - and you can't afford to mess up something so easy to make that's got a $4 or $5 price point, maybe it's just new employees? no clue. And of course, take this advice for what it is worth - I'm all about the beverage life, coldbrew, matcha, black coffee, espresso, masala chai, loose leaf tea, it's all my daily menu. You guys can tell me to eff off, no hard feelings, I'm just an excited customer who wants to contribute to your continued success! Hope I can keep purchasing breakfast, lunch, breads and snacks from you guys for many many years to come! Thanks...

The food is a solid 4.5, it’s usually very delicious, sometimes they miss the mark but I return for specific items on their menu that you cant get anywhere else. The atmosphere is artistic and clean. The staff is always so sweet and efficient. I want to commend specifically Jade and the girl who looks like Dua Lipa (sorry I forgot her name) but they know who I’m talking about. They are both the usual people I talk to at the front and they do an excellent job of being charismatic, friendly and inviting, taking the time to ask about and engage with their patrons. Service gets 3 stars because I used to come here all the time until I moved away, and I just recently moved back and ordered my favorite breakfast sandwich to go, and it was not the same ): The person who took my order was very precise and repeated it back to me, but the kitchen still got it wrong unfortunately. I ate it and enjoyed it still but was just a little disappointed bc my favorite parts of the sandwich were missing. Hopefully next time there is better communication between FOH and BOH.
