The school is somewhere between pathetic and piss poor. I was a transfer student and when my transcripts came down to the school they told me I didn't need to do a new student orientation and that I could schedule my classes. Online there were three holds, one for my fasfa which I took care of, one because my transcripts weren't there (even though I talked to an advisor who pulled my transcripts up), and one for the new student orientation. They got the hold for my transcripts and fasts removed but they said I still needed to do new student orientation when my advisor said I didn't. After about a week of being told the hold was going to be taken down (being on hold or transferred from one department to another for over an hour each day) I was told that they couldn't remove it. I go down to the school and they then tell me I do need to do new student orientation (after all the slots were full!). I had to miss out on a full semester because they originally told me I didn't need the new student orientation (when they had my transcripts in hand) because I had "the sufficient credits". I called them and asked while I was online prepared to set up for orientation but they assured me I didn't need to do it only to change their minds at the last minute. Anyways I later decided I wanted to join the military. I only had 23 credits from my previous school and needed at least 24 to enlist with a promotion so I go online and purchase myself a CLEP test. Lord and behold the testing site is none other than San Antonio College. On the CLEP website it instructed me to call the school to schedule the test and that's what I did (or at least tried to do). I called the school and got passed around department to department even specifically asking for the testing department. They were tossing me around for literally over 40 minutes then got fed up with me and hung up. Needing to take this test I decided to call again. Results didn't change passed around for another half hour until someone (one person out of the many) was nice enough to actually transfer me to testing. No one was there. I left a very detailed message including my phone number to receive a call back. Never happened. Called again the next day and same thing. It's been going on a week of me trying to schedule my test with zero prevail. I have gone down to the main office before when I was originally trying to transfer there and the office is literally worse than the DMV. Over all the school is unprofessional (at best), unhelpful, half the staff members look stoned off their asses while the other half have poles stuck up their asses and will make your life a living hell if they feel like they're not satisfied with their own lives. There are a very few good people there who have helped me, but they are the only reason why I'd give this school even a 1 star. Compared to its other sister schools I believe SAC should lose its accreditation and be shut down. I would NEVER recommend this school to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've attended several schools online and in residency status over the years and SAC is by far the best from admissions, registration, staff, class size, faculty and student experience. -Extremely Veteran friendly! -Several upgrades to the campus -If you don't mind writing there a numerous scholarships available -Registration is a breeze if you follow the guidance on the website, if not then prepare to endure some self-inflicted (that's where the negative comments are coming from) -Small class sizes equal more -Affordable tuition -Your credits will transfer but do spend quality time with your adviser -Campus walk-ability is good but simply know where to park to will help you -Radio/TV Film program is top-notch! -Campus has it's own broadcast radio station -Free VIA access for students -A plethora of campus programs to keep you engaged -Myriad of student outreach programs to assist you while you are focused on your academics -I personally had little to no issues with my professors -If you are 30 and up you may become frustrated with the mentality of some of the younger students. However, most of them are amazing and forward thinking young men and women. Whether you are going after an AAS to enter your field or AA to transfer SAC is the way to go. Other campuses maybe newer but they don't have the staff and faculty of SAC. I originally enrolled at Lakeview but the registration process was so horrid I simply walked out. If you can't scan a transcript in properly but blame the prospective student we are well on the path of failure. Oh yeah to those complaining about the registration process. The new phone sync notification system is designed for you go do other stuff and when you get a text you can come back. If it doesn't fit your timeline you can come back another day. It's really a breath of fresh air from the old online cue and build a house, kill an animal and raise family before you are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGo somewhere else if you can - that is my advice. The administration in several departments are downright unhelpful, even if you're trying to correct an error they made. I've gotten the run around so much at this school though St. Philips has been much more helpful for me and I only took one class there. Northeast Lakeview and Palo Alto are also much more willing to help. I can't understand their hesitancy; it's almost as if they've been instructed not to be helpful. I've been to a lot of schools as I'm applying for my second master's degree and I am sorely disappointed that I've had to take classes here for pre-requisites..
I moved from Ca. years ago and was classified as an in-state student at the school I was attending for my master's and I was downright harassed by the residency department (among two other people they were harassing). I had to bring in several documents (that are not required by law) by their department to "prove" I lived here, even though I own a house, had the same job for over two years, and am an in state student at another University in town. I had to leave work several times in one day to fix the situation.
Most of the instructors were great but some left something to be desired (like professionalism and grammar). Those that were great were very helpful and ran a great class to try and get students involved and ease learning.
Some aspects have been ok, like a couple of great instructors and nice students but I would not attend if these classes were...
