Really great sandwiches! I had the Chef's Continental sandwich, and it was delicious. It features a home-made pate that they make, along with sliced chicken and an interesting sausage. The pickled veggies and cilantro go perfectly with the sandwich, and the mayonnaise and home-made chili paste. They compliment it surprisingly well. The soup appetizer was also a treat. It was a french onion soup with a sopping wet bread slice smothered in cheese on top. The small onion bits floating in the soup along with the cheesy bread make a combination to die for. The tea is surprisingly good, too!! I would say its almost as good as the tea at Simi's. Almost, but that's a huge compliment in my book! (I drink unsweet tea, so keep that in mind). I don't like sweets but my husband scarfed down my cream puff and his (he was eyeing mine) and he says it was really good and the bread for it was so soft and fresh.I really liked that the owner made an effort to stop by our table to talk with us. He was really sweet and I've noticed the few times I've gone that he makes an effort to get to know his customers and interacts with several of them. I left really happy and smiling. Also, with the heat outside the interior was really cool and fresh and I really appreciated that. The bill came out to $20 for us two, which was also an amazingly good price and I will happily dine here for as many lunches as I can for some delicious, fresh, yet...
Read moreI’ve been coming to French subs since 2001, I was in middle school back then. The owners knew my mom my dad and all my sibling. I grew up got married, got pregnant and every doctos visit I would stop and eat my s14. 6 years later I got pregnant all of my life events I made sure to stop and get my s14. It was good for my soul. I was sadly informed the owners had finally sold (as they should have to enjoy their retirement and take care of the wife’s health) I was sure the food would still be as delusion since the previous owners took so much pride in their food that I knew they wouldn’t leave it in hands that could not live up to French subs reputation. I have gone twice the first time I didn’t even know they had sold off. Something was off and the soup was not the same nor was the sandwich. I went again today the soup was nothing like the original recipe, the pastry was dry with hardly any filling, and the sandwich was not as juicy as before. I gave it a second change only to be let down. Thank you for all the wonderful meals to my parent my self and my children! We hope you enjoy your retirement as it is very...
Read moreThis is the GREATEST SANDWICH SHOP EVER!!! Not only is everything from their handmade menu absolutely delicious, but the owner, Duke, is one of the friendliest and nicest people I have ever encountered. I found this place by mere coincidence while in town for a medical procedure, but my mom and I struck gold when we walked through their doors that day! French Sandwiches is truly the best sandwich shop in town and one of San Antonio’s hidden gems! Whenever I am town, I always pick up food to go from here, at least two times, if I’m lucky. Normally, Duke makes a point to visit each and every table inside to make sure everything is prepared to your liking and satisfaction. However, because of COVID, Duke and his staff have been so accommodating and safe by allowing take-out options for those of us who have medical issues, which are just as tasty and exceptional! The only downside to ordering take-out is not being able to enjoy each delicious meal inside with he and his family’s wonderful company. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll order one of their many amazing sandwiches and I promise you will not be...
