This place has very great Gyros. I always shoot for the Gyro & fries special which always hits the spot and leaves me full without the guilt. The service was always quick and lets you get on with the day. Today however, I ran into a little surprise; the eatery has waitresses now. Before I would go to the bar, tell the cashier my order and pay right then and there. Food comes out, I eat it,and I'm gone. Today I walk up to the bar as I have done in the past and the hostess asks if I will be dining in or taking out. I dine in, and instead of taking my order (note: its just me, not 2 or more people), she ask that I sit and someone will be take my order then. I have a seat and about a few moments, she comes by to take my order and leaves a menu...I said that I already know what I want, and I gave her my order. I would have already had my order and drink and would have been waiting on my food already if they did not go to this format rather just now taking my order. She brings out my food and of course, forgets my extra Tzatziki sauce that I asked her, so I ended getting it myself as she was busy with other things. She comes around and asks how is everything and I let her know that she forgot my sauce, but fine. She did apologize for not bringing it out. But what really gets me is that she comes around asking me if everything is OK with the food.....YES!!!!! I do not need to be asked multiple times if the food is OK. You interrupt the customer by doing that and also I could choke if food goes down the wrong path if I try to respond. Next, she comes to drop off the check...note that this would be no issue through the old way as it would already be paid for...and yes, interrupted yet again. The check holder tips over and then a few moments later, she comes by to pick it up, however I am not even half way through my fries, and asks if my card is in there. I tell her that I am not even done eating, and she goes away....Interrupted yet again. I finally finish and I end up walking up to the register anyway to pay. The other waitress/ cashier asked if everything was good, and I said it was OK. I did express my distaste for the new format, and I might have to go somewhere else to get my Gyro fix. Too bad, they are really good. If you don't mind being waited on , then its worth the trip. If you are like me that wants to get in, and then get out. Look for somewhere else to go. Would be 5 stars but the new broke way...
Read moreUpdate as of 03/22/2024 When you come into the parking lot it's going to say Le mariage café. But it's not it's actually Cedar Mediterranean Grill. They open 24hr open. They have a new owner, I wasn't able to meet her and ask some questions. I did bought again Kibehh, a beef gyro and beef shawafel wrap. The cook speaks Spanish and struggle a bit with English. Which I don't mind cuz it gives me an opportunity to speak my language. So I asked her some questions regarding the business. Like which restaurant are they Le mariage or Cedar Mediterranean gril. And who is the owner.
So the menu has definitely changed and they seem like their dishes are either beef or chicken. What happened to lamb? While the food was a good size portion the food to say the least was not impressive ans they they gave us ranch instead of tzatziki sauce. Yeah I will not be visiting this place again
I am disappointed in the food a bit because this place was wonderful with the other owner. Things have changed since I was last here. Can't tell you how long that was maybe 6months or longer.
I posted pics of the menu and food.
No Military discounts offered here. I hope you find my review helpful.
Old review before the new recent order: Let me just start by saying I have never felt so welcome at a restaurant like this place has made me feel. They are so hospitable! There are no true words to explain the welcoming you receive. The gentleman did advised he had a private party coming in, in less than an hour; however, he was willing to serve us. We didn't want to impose but he reassured us it was fine. We started off with the Kibehh as appetizers omg 😳 was it out of the world delicious. They are basically these potatoes with stuffed meat and fried. And there signature home made taziki sauce was impeccable to say the least. He advised it was hand made and there own recipe. We then order a gyros and I order stuff Cedar meat pie. Omg was that delicious can't go wrong with gyro meat and motzerella. Overall the best experience yet to receive in the San Antonio area. I definitely would recommend stopping here for some old fashioned authentic home made...
Read moreSuch good food here. Pretty much everything is great, but there are two things that I think are worth noting as potentially bad. First, the place is almost always empty for dine-in. I don't know what they pay for rent, but they have a huge space and literally every single time I've ever gone there (over 10 times), there has been no more than one table seated. Usually it's empty. I'd say change the format, shrink, or just be take-out only...this will help keep costs down, which ultimately will benefit everyone. This leads me to my second point -- prices. While I would say that prices for the set meals are pretty fair, if you want any modification (extra meat, side of rice, etc), it'll cost you more than it should. Now, I don't mind actually paying that extra amount because I really do like this place, and I feel for the owners, but man...it would be awesome to get an extra side of rice for less than $6. If this place controlled its rent costs (by shrinking or going take out only) or got more people in the door, then I think it could do better on prices, and everyone would win.
Sorry...probably way too much detail, but if you want middle eastern/mediterranean food in this area, Cedar is...
