I had stopped going to India Palace years ago but decided to go in today. Their food is still really amazing. The reason I had stopped going was because every time I went there some, not all, of the workers are unfriendly and act like they’ve never seen an African American in their restaurant before. I used to think maybe it was just me and I was overthinking, but I got the same exact reception the moment I walked in, after all these years. Even some of the customers did double takes when they saw me. I was so extremely uncomfortable that I barely got any food for my take out buffet as I wanted to leave. There was one lady who was nice but everyone else, my goodness. Disappointing.

Update: Today, 8/1/24, one of my children asked for Indian food because it’s so good. I decided to look at India Palace reviews and was shocked to see another Black person felt the same way that I did! I thought I was overthinking things, years ago and even last week. I feel validated because I HATE playing the race card too, most Black people do. We never want to accuse straight away because it’s a really uncomfortable feeling. I am so sad about this, but at least I now know I’m not the only one. Luckily, there are other Indian places in SA that are much nicer and no...

This was for first visit thought have taken few uber orders. being India i know a bit or two abt Indian food. this place deserves Zero stars

We went for their Saturday Buffet, Since i was Vegetarian and Wife and Kid were Nonveg, i took buffet and they ordered la-carte. The buffet is SAD looking display of Indian dishes, with everyone using their already eating hand to server their food with zero care for Hygiene,

The worst thing is their dessert Bar, this was the worst desserts anyone can put in their buffer, some Sad looking sweet made of sooji and Cold Rice pudding seem to be made from leftover rice

My Son ordered for Chicken Biryani-Boneless, first time i saw biryani came much faster than MC-Donald's, it s nothing but big lump of chicken mixed with Fried RICE (YOU CAN CALLED IN AS Tawa pulav)

Still i saw lot of White folks coming in to this restaurant and sees to be happy to eat what they were served

Overall, this is the last time we visit this place and rather buy a frozen things from next door Himalaya Bazaar instead of...

Since India Place asked about the reasons for my rating, please find the details: I visited on 12/28/2022 for dinner buffet. Chicken curry masala - the garlic was not properly cooked coming in Mouth. Samosa - The filling was tasteless. Hope you had eaten samosas in India. Please compare yours with them. Besides that your samosas were without any green or red chutney. Naan - They were very thick. Hope you had naan in India. Your naan were more like pakistani naan. All the non veg curries were of same taste. No one can distinguish one from another. I can keep on elaborating but I stop now. Your food was of 1 * but since due to being Indian I chose to give you 3 * and gave tip as well. Please choose which part of India's cuisine you want to serve and learn that. Now since you are in USA, then I would recommend few places to visit to have an idea about Indian cuisines. Andhra/Telangana - Kuchipudi, Irving, TX Tamil Nadu - Sarvana Bhavan, Irving, TX. Its pure vegetarian. North India - India Grill,...

India Palace is easily one of the best options for anyone looking to experience some new flavors, or for those that are familiar with Indian food! This small "hole in the wall" restaurant truly has some exciting options and will leave you planning a return! It offers an all you can eat option where you can have some excellent Tadoori Chicken (roasted chicken) Vegetable Samosas (fried spicy potatoes), fresh oven baked naan bread and quite possibly some of the best Chicken Tikka Masala you've ever tried! There's also this great spinach with farmer's cheese dish (I believe it's saag paneer) that goes great to combine flavors on your dish! You can also order off the menu, I reccomend ordering their sweat tea for a drink as they'll bring you a pitcher with your cup. Waiters are quite attentive and refill drinks as needed. And be sure to try the sugar coated fennel seeds on the way out! Another nice feature is being able to see the cook make the meals through a glass wall near the counter.

Decent Indian buffet with a good variety of entrees. The buffet at India Palace has a well rounded selection of entrees to choose from. Restaurant is cozy, with decent service the two visits I have had. Fresh Naan bread, Seekh Kabab, Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer and and deserts (Khir and Gulab Jamun) are just some of the items that brought me back for a 2nd visit. This is my 2nd favorite buffet, not only in San Antonio, but of all the Indian buffets I have eaten while traveling in the US. The food has excellent flavor, a meal will give you sweet, spicy, rich & creamy flavors if you vary your items across the selections. Service at the restaurant is good, staff is friendly if you take the time to converse with them, and prices for the buffet are extremely fair considering the quality of the food. If you like Indian food, or maybe want to give it a try, I would recommend this place as they offer an all day buffet.

One word... T A S T Y! What a delicious in amazing place, Incredibly fresh. All the Workers are such nice people! Very friendly. The kind of people that when you walk into a Busy Restaurant the people will always take a second from their time to say Hello. This place is Delicious and I do recommend that if your trying to make a decision, You go there. Me and my family brings everyone who visits San Antonio to India Palace, People from West Texas and even extending to Hawaii come here and come back. We love it, and this will always be our favorite Indian place. Before hand when I lived in Hawaii there was a small Indian place that wasn't really great.. But this restaurant is much different in the best way possible! Freshest buffet I've ever been to, and it'll probably be the same for you. PS Thanks for reading!
