Tortillas are fresh and hot, enchiladas are always tasting great.
The problem, the service.
As a white girl born and raised in San Antonio I'm used to getting subpar service at any authentic Mexican restaurant, but waiting 20 minutes for a refill on coffee, and having my food brought to me and thrown down infornt of me as she walks away quickly before even asking if anything else is needed, still not getting a refill, and having to ask for one when she finally returns minutes later when my entire enchiladas verdes plate is nearly gone to bring us our tortillas, I have to ask for my refill because of her lack of giving a damn my coffee cup has been sitting empty on the edge of the table for twenty minutes. Service was terrible. When I finally got my refill, added the individually wrapped creamers and sugars and stirred, a fly floated to the top of my mug. And when she came to drop the check, she made sure to ask if I needed more coffee even though my cup was obviously full and the dead and coffee soaked fly was sitting on the side of my white saucer, and I even made it a point to let her know about the fly in the event she didn't notice what was in front of her... And she literally said nothing, grabbed my plates and walked away. After waiting a few minutes in the hopes she may return with a fresh coffee or a manager to apologize for the inconvenience, I realized she didn't intend to come back by my table (table 2), so I paid and left, without leaving a tip. I have been in the food service industry for eight years as a waitress and bartender and am appauled by the service standards at this particular Garabaldis location. I understand the occasional fruit fly managing to find it's way into a drink, but having to ask for a refill in the first place, having made it a point about the fly and having nothing done about it, not even an apology, I can't believe it, but...
Read moreWent a few weeks back. Horrible customer service is an understatment. Maybe the food is ok. But their lack of customer service is sad. You cannot only rely on good food. You won't enjoy it if service sucks. I should explain. My waitress was actually trying her best to serve me. So I'll give her credit. The food took a while. Almost all the other tables were so tired of waiting for their servers to come back, they eventually got up and served themselves drink refills (After a while, I decided to serve myself as well) That happened while I was waiting to place the order. Huge red flag, but I wanted to give the place a try. I saw and heard the servers blatantly complaining about their customers and roll their eyes when someone asked for something. They would leave before anyone could ask for anything so one customer raised her voice (hence, the rolling of eyes) I only ordered tacos, and even that took a good 20min+. The restaurant was not full. Also, most were already eating. Again, my waitress was running around and still managed to smile. So I can't blame her much. I finished eating faster than what I had waited. Fyi: $2 for a Bean and Cheese Taco is overpriced. I've had better and cheaper. Then came time to pay. The cashier seemed uninterested in looking at any customer paying. She just held out her hand for the ticket and payment and seemed to be on a personal call. When I asked for my receipt (I paid with a card so of course I ask for a receipt) she exasperated. I don't think I have ever left bad reviews. You all should know I'm a super lenient person and usually try to give others excuses. That says alot about this 1 star review. Safe to say I will NOT be...
Read more**Rotted food and lacking good customer service. PLEASE READ...Our last visit was a big disappointment. We had been regular customers since the restaurant was located off Old Hwy 90. Even when Garibaldi's was closed down due to poor health inspection, we still went back when it was relocated to W. Military. Needless to say, this would be the last time we will eat at Garibaldi's. Maybe if the owner had been more understanding with better customer service and less money hungry and greedy, we would have considered returning. The $16.99 steak my husband ordered had a rotten pungent smell to it. Even the texture and look of the steak was totally off. We asked the waitress to return the plate and my husband ordered something different. The owner never even had the decency to come to our table to apologize for the inconvenience. She sent the poor waitress who was very apologetic and embarrassed to tell us that the owner did not feel the steak was bad and that either we eat what my husband ordered or we will get charged for both the steak plate and whatever else my husband ordered in place of it (IN THOSE EXACT WORDS). We had no choice but to order something else because my husband still hadn't eaten anything. We ended up paying for 3 plates, my husband's two plates (one of which included the rotten steak plate) and my own plate. I know we are all going through hard times right now. But to be that greedy in a business that is clearly thriving, is really sad, low and down right pathetic by any standards. I would think twice before going to this restaurant. The owner does not care what kind of service or food...
