I don't understand why this place has 4.1 stars when everything about it was not worth a star at all. My friend and I decided to get dinner here and immediately regretted it after taking the first bite. We came into a deserted restaurant assuming that it was just because it was late (~ 8 PM). We saw a man sitting down watching TV and he turned out to work there. Anyways, we decided to both get the same dish (pad Thai beef), apparently the "best in town". It in fact, was the opposite of that. The presentation looked amazing, hence the picture. My friend first tried the beef and was having a difficult time swallowing it. He said that it was similar to the consistency of beef jerky. I didn't believe him until I tried to chew it and was scared I would get lock jaw. The noodles were drowning in sauce that was inedible. I didn't realize I was consuming spaghetti and not pad Thai. It was hands down the worst pad Thai I've had in my life. I also ordered a Thai tea (not pictured) and it was just watery, bland, and I might as well have drank a cup of sugar. No clue if the cook knew how to actually make these dishes or if this was the first time they did, but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - let alone my worse enemy. The final cost was almost $40 and my friend felt bad that I barely touched my plate that he volunteered to pay for the meals. The only reason he finished his plate excluding all the pieces of beef was because he was famished. I don't even think if I was inebriated that I would choose this place, so fair warning before you think of trying it.

I’m so sad to post this looong review. But please take this as an input to improve the quality. I was too tired to cook, so I was thinking to order some food at Kawser (since it’s HALAL and I always wanted to try it) through Uber (delivery). I ordered pad se ew, papaya salad, mango sticky rice, and chicken spring/egg rolls. And after spent $65ish (with tips), the food was horrible! I’m from Indonesia and have been to any other Asian countries, esp Thailand, countless. So I know how the food supposed to taste like! - The papaya salad was tasteless. I think that’s the most horrible papaya salad I’ve ever had. - The mango sticky rice was... horrendous. I was only able to eat the mango, as the sticky rice didn’t cook properly, it’s burnt. It’s slimy. Plus it didn’t have the coconut milk. - The chicken spring roll was also burnt, and the filling tasted like it’s almost stale: - The pad se ew was tasteless as well. Since I hate to throw it out — plus I was hungry, I reheated again by added soy sauce, a bit of tamarind sauce, a bit of sesame oil, salt, pepper, and mushroom seasoning. It’s now edible and has the right taste. I’m an easy person, and I really don’t like to complain. But you guys need to fix your food, as you might out of business if the food keep taste like this. Again, this review is an input as I was beyond happy to hear that we have a new Thai-Chinese halal restaurant here in San Antonio! Which now become a disappointment.

Delicious and made-to-order. The chicken fried rice was easily the best I have ever had (so flavorful!) and enough for 2 people. The taro boba was yummy and didn't have those large rubbery pearls some places have - no thick rubbery texture at all! Also, this is one of the few Thai and/or Chinese spots in town that is open past 9 pm and, again, since it's made to order, you know the food hasn't been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. For those that are judging the location/outside appearance, the building used to be a corner store, that is why it has bars on the windows and may look a bit different on the outside than what you are expecting. They completely remodeled the inside and you would never know it had been anything else but a restaurant once you are inside. It is very open, airy, and clean. Lastly, the neighborhood is safe. Kawser is well worth the drive from Alamo Ranch or Stone Oak or wherever people are coming from that may have negative assumptions about the Westside.

First the food was very delicious. We passed no less than 6 Mexican restaurants and finally saw this Asian restaurant. We were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time we were there. It was not cool in the restaurant except where they were cooking. We sat down, Waiter came out and took our order, for two dinners and waters. We where hot and tired. So l asked for icy water. He thought l wanted bottled water, and l said no ice water. He went back and cooked our food. He than served our food. I asked again about water as we were never served any and sat there a long time. He brought some out, room temperature at best. Went up to the cooler and was going to get some bottled water, but it was not very cold, just chilled.Went up to where the kitchen was and asked for some ice for the water. He brought 1 cup with some ice in it. We added that to our warm water and it was gone. He never returned. I went in the restroom to fill out glasses with water again. There was a door open leading into the cool kitchen. I called in to him,but was not noticed. I left no tip,as l felt we got NO service. I am usually a bigger tipper, but l was still hot and thirsty. The food was great, but will most likely not return.l like to eat in a cool restaurant and be served ice water on hot days after a long outdoor market...
