During a recent lunch visit to King Buffet in San Antonio, I was pleasantly surprised by the efficiency, cleanliness, and quality of the food. Located conveniently, this Asian buffet offers a wide variety of dishes in a setting that feels newly renovated modern, well-lit, and exceptionally clean.

Upon arrival, I was seated immediately, which was a great start to the meal. The dining area was spacious, with neatly arranged tables and a well-organized buffet setup. The interior had an updated look, featuring contemporary decor that made the experience feel more upscale than a typical buffet restaurant.

The food selection was extensive, covering everything from sushi and Chinese-American classics to seafood and grilled items. What stood out most was the freshness! The dishes were replenished frequently, and nothing appeared to have been sitting out too long. The sushi was a pleasant surprise, with a decent variety of rolls and nigiri, all tasting fresh. The hot dishes, including General Tso’s chicken, fried rice, and lo mein, were flavorful and well-prepared. The Mongolian grill station was a nice touch, allowing for custom stir-fries made to order.

Service was prompt and attentive. Staff members cleared plates quickly and checked on drink refills without needing to be flagged down. The overall efficiency contributed to a smooth and enjoyable dining experience.

Never again. The food wasn't good. Even the desserts were bad. When my sugar fiend of a child didn't even like the ice cream I knew we had a problem. When we arrived our table was dirty which meant we couldn't set our stuff down. The chineese food wasn't crispy it was soggy and had better flavor than most things. Except the chowmein and the egg rolls which both were not good and tasted like stale cabbage and cardboard. The crab legs... Forget it. It's like watching a bunch of vultures dive in on a freshly harvested deer on the side of the road. People are pushy and aggressive to get the crab so don't count on that. The salad bar... Like doesn't even count as a salad bar. They don't cut lettuce it's like huge chunks that make you look like a cow when you're eating it. The only labeled dressing was ranch and it's made too thick to enjoy on a salad. Some of the bao was nice but it was overly flavored with vanilla and they didn't put much out at a time. The sushi was about HEB or gas station quality I wouldn't recommend it. The service was lacking, the tables were cleared quickly so quickly that she our soysauce like midmeal, while I had food in my mouth and couldn't say no. It wasn't fun and it wasn't good. Food: was good with room for improvement. There are some critiques. The butter mushrooms lack flavor. I would suggest incorporating some garlic, soy sauce, sugar ( optional) and a little corn starch. The Mar Far is some if the best I have ever had. The ranch tastes heavy of mayo. Suggesting a need for change in brand or recipe. The dessert was so good my daughter raved over it. Green beans need a bit more flavor as well. The honey chicken was excellent! Sweet and smokey. Lo Mein was also excellent. Fried Zucchini squash, i would suggest chopping into quarters and the breaking and frying. Flavor is good but because the pieces are so large the middle is mushy. Cutting into quarters would likely fit this issue.

Note: Not all foods are clearly labeled. Would consider that for thise with dietary restrictions.

Food bar kept very clean.

The Atmosphere. Beautiful. Excellent authentic traditional music. Comfortable seating. Clean restraunt.

The staff: Amazing. The service can't be beat. They are friendly. Helpful. Kept our drinks refilled and let us enjoy our time. And that's with a lunch rush!
