We arrived a bit after 6PM on Wednesday 5 November. We were the only customers in the house! Nice clean dining room - attractive. Service was impeccable. Menus delivered and drink order taken. Wide ranging selections available. I ordered the Ma Po Tofu with the $2 up-charge for ground pork with steamed rice. My friend ordered the shrimp with vegetables and fried rice. The shrimp dish was delivered first. Attractive and more than an ample serving. Soon thereafter my Ma Po came to the table. Pretty presentation - nicely done. Sorry I did not take a photograph to share - you will just have to go to Chef Asian to see for yourself. My friend Al is a picky eater if it is not a fajita taco or a hamburger he is at wit's end. Yet he ate almost all of his food - but not much of the "fried rice". That rice was the low point of the meal. Gummy and not really good - I tasted it. On the other hand - the Ma Po was tingling with Szechuan pepper sauce providing a good taste sensation. The sauce is not pepper hot, but rather a buzz to the tongue. Just wonderful. The steamed rice was fine. The tofu was soft and creamy, the ground pork added subsistence to the dish. As we were leaving two customers came in. More people need to come in and have a great meal. I highly recommenced you patronize this gem of a restaurant. BTW - the prices are quite reasonable, the portions are generous and the flavors are outstanding. Chef Asian gets lost as it faces Harry Wurzbach in the shopping center that has the HEB and has an address of Austin Highway. I'll be back and hope to...
Read moreI tried Chef Asian Cuisine today and overall it was a great experience. I ordered the sesame chicken with a bowl of egg drop soup for $18, and it even came with fried rice and an egg roll at no extra charge. Taste-wise, everything was spot on, the sesame chicken was flavorful, the soup was comforting, and the sides tied it all together.
The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the portion size. For the price, I expected a bit more, I’ve been to other places where the same cost would have gotten me double, if not triple, the amount of chicken. Still, the quality and flavor were excellent, so I’d definitely eat here again, just wish the portions matched the price a...
Read moreGreat new Chinese food spot my girlfriend turned me on to - looks like it just opened and has a very clean vibe.
The crab puffs were cooked to golden perfection, and the lunch portion of the spicy chicken and shrimp (requested extra spicy) was very fresh and flavorful. The lunch portion size was impressive, and they made it extra spicy just as requested. Not pictured was the egg drop soup, which was also awesome. We will be back next time we are in...
