La Popular Bakery — Restaurant in San Antonio

The food is great. The experience in the way one is treated who is Hispanic/Latin presenting but doesn't speak Spanish is honestly very appalling. There was an older slightly heavier set woman with drawn on eyebrows judging me who was SO unwelcoming and rude. Her entire demeanor was offended when I didn't respond in Spanish....I'm aware of where I'm standing but I'm also aware it's still America and if I don't want to speak Spanish bc I don't know how or don't want to, it shouldn't ever be reason to be treated with less common decency and courteous and friendly service. Oh and she laughed when she saw the name on my cashapp card said BoricuaBarbie. 🙄 May all your flour go bad and sugar get infested with german roaches; may her twin sister block eyebrows sweat off unevenly and her next 7 Big Reds go...

On my last two visits to this place, the ladies working at the front were very rude. On this last visit, Immediately after paying I realized that I was given the wrong piece of bread, I informed the lady and she told me that I had to pay for it even though she gave me the wrong piece. It can be difficult to order here due to items not having prices and names, plus they’re standing behind a tall glass display. They should label their items if they don’t want any miscommunication when customers are picking out what they want. From now on, I’ll drive a little further down the road to Fiesta bakery, they got higher reviews anyways.

Prices always seem to fluctuate at this place and they don’t give out receipts. The bread is ok, but not good enough to be dealing with...

The location is definitely one of the better bakery’s. I’ve been coming here for years and haven’t been disappointed. That said, prices have gone up. Again, quality is outstanding compared to the other locations. So, I came in today and bought two pink cake slices, two yo-yos, three cheesecake squares, three chocolate chip cookies, and one pierda. My total was $20.50, but they add an EXTRA 3% surcharge for credit card transactions, SO BRING CASH TO AVOID IT😅. To reiterate, the Quality of the baked goods and the staff is really good. Also if the owner could post prices of the goods, I have as well as others notice different prices...
