Martinez Barbacoa Y Tamales — Restaurant in San Antonio

I love this place. They have a barbacoa combo with 1lb meat, a pack of flour tortillas, a pack of corn tortillas, salsa, and a 2 liter big red for $15! great deal! Great tasting food. The tamales are delicious too! Aside from the food, what I really love about Martinez's is the friendly staff. They make you feel welcome and even the people that shop there are friendly. I shall say the owner was very cordial in trying to assist a limited Spanish speaking yet very identifiable Mexican (American) with my order of Tamales, barbacoa and Menudo. She tried to show me that the bundle was less expensive and it came with two sodas. Which I'd say she may have realized not quite. However, I am truly grateful that she and her employees were patient and gracious in their assistance. Ahhh...the tamales, barbacoa and Menudo were truly enjoyed by my mother's guests ( family and friend) from Dallas. Who said San Antonio has the best Mexican...

Wow - Reminds me of my departed fathers recipe delicious, and the menudo is just tasty had to fight with my wife for the last spoonfuls of the soup.The lengua is only sliced upon ordering, the tamales haven't tried them yet but i will.

P.S. - I really don't like writing reviews especially for places I really love because of the fear of losing its secretive in-town places to eat. But i feel selfish in not sharing its wonderfulness. Be patience though the line get long but the staff is very organized in serving...
