My wife and I ate lunch at Wicked Wich today, I ordered the Hero and my wife ordered the Reuben. We always share half our sandwiches with each other. I don't really care about aesthetics too much. I'm into food and service unless the business overtly dirty or cluttered. Service was good, polite employees. So, the menu states all sandwiches come with oil, vinegar and oregano. My hero sandwich says it comes with brown mustard as well. The cashier asked if I wanted everything on it and I replied yes. When I got the sandwich, it looked good, the braided bread looked cool, slightly toasted like I like it. Took a bite and it was bone dry, no oil, vinegar or mustard. I asked the lady behind the counter for some mustard and (maybe it was just me) but she looked a little thrown off by the request, and I mentioned I thought it came with mustard, she said no it didn't, so its served dry? She politely handed me the mustard and I threw some on there, much better but I would have liked to try it with oil, vinegar and the brown mustard, like the way Thundercloud subs do it up. My wife's Reuban looked good, the bread was nice and seared crispy from the press, melted cheese, nice beef portion but the sauerkraut was scarce, missing. It had a teaspoon at best. Im from the alumni that sauerkraut on a Reuben is just as important as the beef, it would have been a great sandwich if the sauerkraut had been respectfully represented. It was just an okayish-goodish sandwich. By that time a line had formed almost out the door so I dropped the idea about going back and asking for more sauerkraut. Those two sandwiches, a bottled water and a bottled sweet tea was $29. I would like to try the sandwiches the way they were intended to be prepared, but in this case, we were a little underwhelmed especially coupled by the prices. Price surely would not have been an issue if we didnt feel like we wanted the sandwiches to be more. We chose to eat here by word of mouth and being local. The line out the door at lunch was a really good sign. I hope they get the menu consistency thingy dialed in, those details make a good sandwich a great sandwich. We'll most likely try it again down the road...
Read moreI’ve been a regular here for a few months since I moved to the area. I live in Deco District and stop by every week. At least once a week sometimes 2. Early one day the owner of the place asks if I can submit a review on google for half off my sandwich. Im posting part of that original review below but Im here now to give a honest review. I’d like to start by saying that yeah the food and environment was great. It’s a cool place or so it seems. Though after some allegations floating around on social media and obviously here in the reviews- about the owner pocketing the employees tips and not paying tax, woah. This is serious stuff. For the staff to make up lies? No. I always had an awesome experience and sandwich with the manager girl with short hair and the guy with beard. Angel the girl is a real one and always made me feel welcome and very obvious others to. The sincerity angel has and the pride in what they all do there. They ran that place on the straight and narrow. It’s hard not to believe these allegations. I mean the people working there were always happy since I first started going. When I talked to them they were cool and you can tell their passion in the work and food. But Can I say the same about the owner? When I went and she helped me she was not the nicest and always short with me. Condescending maybe because of my disability? I hope not but I digress. It’s hard not to believe the employees allegations. Not just because of what I witnessed, but come on. I know there always two sides of a story. Gotta hear both. I hear the workers. I believe them and wish all the former...
Read moreAs a sandwich obsessed pregnant woman, I saw all the videos on social media of this place and really wanted to like it! But it really is just an average sandwich, for a WAY above average price tag. The shop is super small, with little to no parking, and it was packed to the gills. They were busy which I totally get, but the service was so slow in comparison. They were assembling sandwiches at almost a snails pace. We watched two people struggle to put our soup in one bag, and the spoon for it in another. It looked extremely discombobulated for a simple setup with no back of house. After waiting a good while we got our sandwiches and they were just…okay? The Italian was alright, and my husbands The Best was slightly better. For over 40$ you would think it would be stellar. Or even homemade! After speaking to staff we discovered they don’t even make their own bread, they order it and get it shipped in. Why were 2 Jimmy John sized sandwiches so expensive? They are not excessively larger or over stuffed with amazing toppings on housemade bread so that was unclear. The soup was also disappointing. There’s no kitchen so it was also clearly shipped in and tasted canned. There’s no fountain drink station so you get no refills, just a can from their meager drink options. Overall we were super disappointed. If you want a killer sandwich, go to Zito’s, or even...
