McAlister's Deli — Restaurant in San Antonio

After several weeks me and my husband waited for the opening of this location by city base. After it opened this past week or so I had many good reviews from a lot of my employees, as I work down the street from there and it even made me more anxious to eat there. Yesterday was our first night of ordering and unfortunately everything that could go wrong did. My husband called in our order and after hanging up the phone, told me the total and it seemed off. So after looking at what we had ordered and realizing that it did not match we called back and after speaking to the gentleman on the phone, our order was indeed taken wrong and we were being charged for items that we did not order. After that was corrected my husband had them repeat the order to make sure that it was correct and made sure that they had everything they needed to make it as they also informed us when my husband called that they did not have a lot of the ingredients to make what we originally wanted.to order. After getting off the phone we waited for the order to be done.My husband went and picked it up and upon arriving back to our house after opening everything up the grilled chicken salad that we had ordered for our daughter did not have any cheese on it. I've had a better experience at another location. I haven't had the pleasure of eating them for lunch since I switched jobs in 2016. This time I was disappointed. My friend and I wanted to eat in, but there was such a strong fowl odor that was like a dirty water smell. I didn't want to eat my food smelling that the whole time. This is a new building location, so I was confused why it stunk. They were out of a lot of items. (see picture) The half sandwich ai always get is the Chipotle Chicken. There was hardly any meat on the sandwich and I am used to it being jammed packed. Since they were out of Swiss cheese, I had to have American which was OK, but I like the Swiss better. They definitely put too much sauce on my sandwich. My salad was good, but they forgot to put my cookie in the bag. My order was quick, but my friends order took a long while. That's when I discovered my missing cookie. The whole to go trip driving there, ordering and driving back took 30 minutes and we work less than 2 miles away. The cookie was very crunchy and not chewy like I am used to. I will try them again, but in the long future to see if they improved any. Just moving into the area and went online to order delivery from McAlister’s Deli. Ordering was fairly easy and quick. But we had problems with the food that was delivered. We ordered The Italian, The French Dip, Southwest Chicken & Avocado salad, and Chicken Tortilla Soup with sides of fruit salad, tomato & cucumber salad, potato salad, and mac & cheese. First, there was no broth for the French dip and no chili-limes vinegarette dressing for the Chicken & Avocado salad. The Chicken & Avocado had about 4-5 thin slices of avocado (far different than the photo on the online menu) and the chicken tasted like roasted chicken nothing southwestern. The fruit salad was two types of melon and one piece of pineapple. The Italian was mostly pastrami with very little of the other meats. The Chicken Tortilla Soup was thick and just the right amount on spicy. The mac & cheese was creamy and cheese. If we order again from McAlister’s, we will avoid items with multiple meats, anything with added side condiments (dressing or sauce) and vague descriptions (fruit salad).
