I was really excited to try this shop, but I didn’t feel very welcomed when I came in. I am a big fan of trying locally owned and operated coffee shops, and I used to be a barista when I was younger. The best coffee shops I’ve been to are those that feel warm and inviting, this did not feel that way. It felt awkward and uncomfortable.
I walked in and I was up next in line. I was greeted, I stated that it was my first time in so I was just looking at what there was. Before I could continue my sentence, I was snapped at with “there’s no food” - which was unpleasant. I hadn’t even asked about food, I just happened to glance at their display. I was there for a latte. I felt rushed to order and the barista seemed stressed. I understand if she had been getting questions about food a lot but I had just walked in. It honestly made me want to leave. She did end up giving me a discount at check out for being a first time visitor which bettered my experience and she attempted to have some conversation, however it felt forced and awkward to me. I ordered a caramel latte. Espresso was good but the milk tasted old or soured. I could not taste any caramel.
Overall I like the vibe of the shop (decor, location) but I feel as though the customer service could be more pleasant and maybe some product quality checks. Especially for $7 a coffee - I think it should be a better experience. I would probably come back if they improved due to the aesthetic and location...
Read moreUgh! The Red Roof didn't offer any type of coffee ☕️!!! And I need 😫 coffee in the morning! Soo, next thing I did was to use Google maps to explore coffee shops closer to the Alamodome. The reviews and pictures 📸 of the Poetic Republic Coffee Roasters really caught my eye 👁! Specifically it being close to the Vienna-style coffee shops I knew from Germany! Glad 😊 to have picked this one! Jorge was more than helpful. The coffee ☕️ was great and the quiche, just delicious 😋! It is made a little differently than a "usual" quiche, but oh, the flavors!!! And, they bake it themselves! CC was all over my plate! As you can tell, almost no crumbs left! 😀! Oh, free coffee refills, while you are there! Since I had more time to visit, I ordered their Cinnamon Croissant Roll, also baked fresh there! Yum, yum! Good for my tummy 😋! Cynthia did a great job of answering some of my questions! The ambience is just beautiful, encouraging you to either chat with others, to work or just read. I had the pleasure of chatting with Jorge and others! Loved ❤️ every minute I was there! Jorge, knowing that I had more time on my hands, recommended the "Cherrity Bar" as a stop, working my way to the Alamodome! More in my review for it! This little coffee shop is definitely 5-star, thumbs 👍 up gem! If you are in San Antonio, it is really worth a stop!!! 😀😋😊! A big shout out to Jorge...
Read moreDid a fb check in from this small business on South Presa. I love small businesses and try to support when possible. Am 77years old. Also a very proud Vietnam combat veteran. I normally wear military cap with Vietnam paraphernalia all over it. This was my second stop here. Not sure of history of it but have noticed it previously. I ride VIA bus 36 on Presa but it is a once an hour run. Because of activities at District 5 Senior Center I have had time to kill. I was somewhat pleased with my first visit. I was needing water. Bought tea and a scone to eat there. I was uncomfortable. Seemed people not used to handicapped. It was struggle to enter and leave. Entrance not overly handicap friendly. This time I purchased scone, canned water, and a kolache. As I prepared to leave and was leaving a tip a customer asked me something. I was startled. What prompted this question? My attire, my ethnicity, my age, or my conduct. I will take the blame. I don't support tip on tab. Just someone trying to get share of hard earned small business earning. PRC&WCo is a very nice place and needs...
