I've been a patron at this location for about 3 years or so. When I first started coming here, the vibes were awesome, drinks were good and service was excellent. I always come by for karaoke nights. This time around... I felt unwelcome. My friends and I, could feel the vibe was off. We arrived later on, this particular Saturday night, around 12:30 AM or so. We signed up for karaoke and ordered drinks. My friend signed up first for karaoke and got skipped, not until my second friend got called up and let the KJ know that they skipped the first friend. We're all enjoying yourselves, patiently awaiting our turn, to sing, when the clock strikes, last call. I go up to the bar with only one man waiting for his shots to be made. I make eye contact with the bartender. (She has a bold blonde money piece.) We exchange a grin. She acknowledged me and knew I was waiting to be served. As she's done making the 6 shots, she serves two shots to the man waiting and then proceeds to walk around to serve the other four shots to patrons that are sitting on the stools facing the stage. The way she carried the shot glasses was against health code. Her fingers were on the rim, in the glass!! Ewww. She then took a shot with said patrons and hung around for a few minutes, knowing it's last call and has other people at the bar waiting to be served. At this point I'm just being patient, when another pair of patrons walks up and are standing at the well (rail). Finally said bartender resumes their post behind the bar to acknowledge the two patrons that had just barely walked up to be served. I interject and say I was here first and put in my drink order. A twisted tea and two Lone Stars (red) . I suppose, I startled the 2 patrons that had just walked up because I was speaking up for myself and letting the bartender know that I was there first. She pops the top to the drinks ordered and then says "Do I take them or do I not!?" I say I'm going to pay for them and the bartender says again "Do I take them or do I not!?" Again, "I will pay for them " and she says for the thrid time "Do I take them or do I not!?" I believe she may have been intoxicated. I don't know what the policy is for staff drinking on the job. I finally said "Take them!" and stormed tf out. This bartender needs an ego check and perhaps a breathalyzer. I don't know Lucha y'all had my heart and now it's shattered. Yalls bar staff turn over rate has been Hella high.... where are all...
Read moreEl Luchador Bar announced they were having a Office Trivia Night. I told my friends we had to go. All 3 of us have jobs & are always pretty busy with work. However I convinced them to request the night off. We all 3 got the night off!!! Yay. I decided to use Lyft there since it was Fat Tuesday and I wanted to be safe just in case. We got there around 7:15. I asked the DJ to sign up but she in 15 minutes at 7:30 teams sign up. Thatâs fine. My friend order drinks at the bar which took 15 minutes, while I stood in line to put our name down. It took forever the line wrap around so long. We finally had our drinks which only beers, which did take a while because the place was so crowded. My friend also order food from outside from Bucho at 7:32 and the food wasnât ready till 8:18. Thatâs A 46 MINUTE WAIT ON FOOD!!! JUST FOR A BURGER AND 3 QUESADILLAS, which were too greasy. I guess the Luchador Bar was too full, and there was a fire Marshall threatening to shut down the place. So the DJ said everyone a birthday in April has to leave. Which totally unfair...and how planning checking everyoneâs birthday at the bar. She ended up calling 5 teams telling to go home. We were one of them, even though early the line to sign up for teams was beyond long. I think itâs ridiculous that El Luchador Bar wasnât prepared for this event. On their Facebook page it said 600 plus people were interested how they not take in consideration. I went to Flying Saucer were was a Office Trivia night and it was the complete opposite of this fiasco. Recommendations make people RSVP on your Facebook page and pre reserved the tables. That way donât kick patrons out once you got us here buying your product. I overheard once we left they we still breaking law, too many still....
Read moreHonest lengthy review. Cool, chill bar you want to go to with a small town vibe (iykyk). I absolutely love the luchador theme!! Very unique, wish the spot was closer to Southtown. However if it was it would not be able to offer neighborhood bar prices on drinks. Mixed crowd leaning towards mature. The had a live band and a DJ on a Saturday. The band had a small town feel and good vibes. We were with a party that had tickets for drinks and what we could purchase was not made very clear. Perhaps it was a lack of communication on the party's side. When going to redeem the ticket for a beer, we wanted a Michelob ultra. We were told Michelob was an import and the tickets were only good for domestic beers. I believe this is a simple misunderstanding and the establishment should research and understand imports are beers crafted/sourced from another country maybe even state. Michelob Ultras are part of Anheuser which is not an import, they are the same makers of Budweiser, Bud light, Bud Ice etc. For a time and every now and then it is can be considered an premium beer but not import. We were also given different tickets that were used for well drinks. I choose a bourbon and coke. My drink was ok, no umffđ. They have a great outdoor area, unfortunately we didn't go out. Removing the wall sperating the outdoor area & making a service bar in between would be an great addition! I also believe it needs a detailed cleaning with fresh mops. There was a lingering odor. Other than that I would definitely return! The drink prices are good, the area was quite. Parking was limited next to the bar but there is an area across the street. Posting signs...
