Poke Central — Restaurant in San Antonio

I've been to this place quite a few times. More than 15 times at least. I don't really go anymore. They give you really solid portions and its generally tasty but I've had a handful of times where the vegetables were on their way out, nearly inedible and limp/brown and also I've had them give me rotten eel sauce. Also, the people who make your food don't really enjoy their job and it shows. For some reason they don't (and also refuse) to mix the sauce on the vegetables. They dump it into the rice, which is not how poke is made. It's always mixed into the veggies and meat to make them tasty and then set on top of the already delicious and sticky sushi rice that remains fluffy at every other place, even in other states. Also, they don't have sweet chili sauce and that is a standard sauce at all other poke places. Also, they give you raw tofu. I recently changed the way I eat and so tofu is the option and it's strange that they don't fry it or do anything to it. Its good raw but could be better. For a long time I loved going to this place when it was still located on 1604 near the Blanco intersection. My favorite was always the Spurs bowl. It was always nice to see the employees preparing the food in front of you. It was always nice to know they got the Blue plate award. It was great as a stand alone restaurant. Now as I see it has moved to this new location inside the Wok On Wheels at 4503 DeZavala Rd, they prepare everything in the back kitchen. It's not like a front serving line anymore where you can choose your items as you move alone. This is very disappointing to me and I'm not sure I will return to this restaurant again in the future. My first experience at this new location. The lady at the front desk barely knew what was going on with the poke central brand. She didn't understand the menu very well. And it seemed like the people working the kitchen barely knew the menu as well. It's hard to believe that poke central in its present environment is even worthy of this blue plate award anymore. First time trying a poke bowl here I've had a poke bowl twice before so I'm kind of familiar with what to order and how it tastes. I had read this place was pretty popular so decided to finally get a chance to order for myself. I actually ordered on their website which was really simple and I went with the pick two bowl combo which came with a drink in miso soup. As soon as I arrive for pick up our order was already ready to go in customer service was super nice and great. So first the miso soup that stuff is amazing good. Not all miso soup is the same second the poke bowl . The portion size is huge I couldn't even finish it all.So I'm excited to have some for later. I went with chicken and shrimp white rice and most of the toppings with all the spicy sauces with adding avocado which only cost one dollarto add.
