Give us this day our daily bread. Or better yet, give us a sandwich with fresh baked bread. That's what you get when you go to the Broadway Bakery for lunch. We were looking for a light lunch and knew that they served sandwiches here. The selection is limited, but the BDB Club with turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar, swiss, green leaf lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo was a good, two handed, cold cut sandwich. Grab a bag of chips and a drink and watch while your sandwich is made right in front of you.
Really no spectacular food to ramble on about here, just a basic sandwich menu and less than five bistro tables to accommodate dine-in patrons. The novelty here is enjoying a simple meal while your olfactory senses go into overdrive as your are enveloped by the yeasty, warm, baking dough smell of bread and pastries in the ovens. That heady smell always makes me hungry.
Plenty of pastries and cookies to choose from for dessert so you might as well give in and select several. The lemon ricotta cookies we chose were soft and crumbley and as ethereal as biting into a lemon cloud. We bought a half dozen to go. We missed getting to take home some of the sold out cheese and sausage kolaches, a particular favorite of mine (even better with jalapeno in the dough).
Pick one, eat one and take the rest for later. You'll thank yourself for doing just that with a pastry for tomorrow's breakfast or a cookie for a...
Read moreI started going to the Broadway Daily Bread frequently after I had my first baby. I usually buy some coffee (my fav is the snickerdoodle) and an occasional sweet treat (amazing blueberry muffin, sour dough pecan muffin, and lemon bars). My son turned one last week and I ordered a chocolate cake from them for his bday party. When I went to pick up the cake, my heart melted when the staff handed to me a card and a gift they bought for my son! The staff here is truly amazing and always welcome me and my son with a smile. The Broadway Daily bread will forever have a place in my family’s heart.. and tummy. Thank you for the exceptional customer service and delicious food!
Read moreFamily Owned Bakery - Awesome Sandwiches And More We accidentally found this bakery when shopping for driving schools for our daughter (last century news). We happened to stop by for a sweet snack. They were selling challah bread for Passover. This Catholic never passes up a chance to buy an egg bread. Both Challah and cookie were awesome.
Since that time, 20 years later, we always buy a little something more than we planned to. Sandwiches are made with the freshest breads and ingredients. Cookies and brownies are oversized and always eaten quickly.
Lately, I’ve become a fan of the little cupcakes ( 1 Chocolate tastes extra yummy when followed by its companion Red Velvet friend). There’s a loaf of Cinnamon Bun Bread that gives a cinnamon roll a run for its money.
This is the kind of bakery that can sell out of popular items. Kind of like the best boulangeries in France. If you want the full selection, show up early. If you arrive later in the afternoon, you’ll still enjoy whatever they have left. Sometimes we just buy a loaf of bread. It truly makes a difference buying from a small bakery.
Great customer service. They have a second location on Broadway closer...
