RJ's Snack Shack — Restaurant in San Antonio

After reading all the positive reviews my family and I decided to try this place out. It was our first time here.

We got some cheese burger combos, nuggets, onion rings, and cheese sticks. Since those are the highly praised items.

The food looked amazing. Sadly, the old adage "don't judge a book by its cover" is the best description I can use. The burger meat was over cooked and burned in certain sections. The patty had a lot of cartilage and/or gristle chunks in it, which made it inedible for us.

The cheesesticks and nuggets had no flavor in their batter. The chicken in the nuggets were extremely dry. They both tasted like grocery brand frozen items. The onion rings were dry and rubbery. The lemonade didn't taste freshly squeezed but almost like that country time powder drink. For me not worth the extra charge.

As for customer service, we didn't get a cheery individual. I completely understand because it's been crazy hot so I'm sure they were exhausted.

I am sad that this place didn't hold up to its hype. It is heartbreaking because we love supporting our local community businesses. Perhaps we just went...

First time here, well worth the money. Well worth the wait. I like going to these places to find some good food. That's what I found at this burger place. Good food for a reasonable price. It's an independent burger joint. So, No rest rooms seen. Limited tables. Out doors only. There's some shade; no worries. No waiters but good service. Located in a parking lot area; so, plenty of parking. It's mainly a drive-thru, but you can still make an order. (It's been around for a good while; so, they have something good for you.) Can't miss it cause it's a yellow building. There's a line of cars there, too. This place gets a 👍& 👌. Opens @5pm; closed around 9p. Tues.-sat. West side on Culebra near St.Mary's College. I’d give a 10 STAR rating if I could! Today was my first time hearing & trying RJ’s! The owner came out as we pulled up to the drive thru menu, and, as he should be, soooo proud to let us know about the menu and a little bit about the award winning history there! It is drive thru only but does have outside seating & This place has hands down the BEST Mexican Hamburger I’ve ever had! It literally melted in my mouth! It’s big enough for two people and definitely more than enough to share, I got the combo and it comes with fries & a drink! The sweet tea was perfect & the lemonade was SO GOOD!
