Rudy's Seafood — Restaurant in San Antonio

12/9/20 Weds.. I had never been here before and as long as I have lived in San Antonio I never knew they were here??? Anyway we were getting hungry after shopping at habitat for humanity so we were gonna go to luby's for dinner and she she said she was hungry already so off we go!! They have (6) outdoor seating tables spaced out they don't have indoor seating and everything is take out and you get a phone call to come get your food no waiting inside. One public restroom per person and there is self serve drink station all condiments are on a counter, employees are gloved and are wearing a full face cover nose and all!!. There is a covid line that you stand in but there were not any people there to order and it snakes inside and everything is marked off. Food is good plenty per plate and it's hot not burned or soggy fish! What I didn't like was that the combos and I guess the rest of the menu (as I didn't read the rest) don't come with a drink so you have to order that separate?? Cause combos aren't just your food it's normally with a drink? But I guess this is changing also as many things are now a days?? Now for my complaint as I walked in to use there very clean and good smelling restroom one of the people that work the register had come out and I went in, I noticed that the Blue gloves were on I didn't get to notice if the gloves were wet or not they don't have paper towels or a hand dryer? I'm not sure if the gloves were changed when they went back to work, I so wanted to go see but I need to be in the restroom or they would have to be some cleanup??? So I'm hoping that gloves were changed and hands were washed?? REMEMBER gloves are to be changed everytime you are either scratching your head, poking your nose, or running your finger underneath your nose but if your going to help a customer those gloves should be changed out using the same dirty gloves to go and grab food, napkins, drink cups, is a No, No gloves are to keep People you Serve safe from germs you don't go and clean the toilet and then serve someone, or do you?? I understand it it is time consuming but that is proper service and as a person that works in the food service industry and at a hotel I've seen my share of what wait staff being embarrassed infront of other guest and fellow employees so Check your f&b manuel or your food service books?? Rudy's is a San Antonio tradition. Been around for many years. MANY. Prices have gone up a bit, but where isn't that true? A 12 piece jumbo shrimp with fries and a drink came out to about $32. Ouch and maybe not so jumbo. Came with a coleslaw (ok) and a tarter sauce (not as thick as most) The good thing is the shrimp were good. Light batter. Golden brown. The fries were not one of my favorites but hey were good, my friend liked them a lot. Be prepared to be confused when you walk in, you're supposed to stand in this line, some people did, some people didn't. And then you go to the counter and you order and they give you a ticket and your drink cup and then you go off to the side to get your drink and then hopefully there's a table for you because there's not that many tables to choose from. My friend told me what they wanted and grabbed a table that had just opened up and i walked up to order. The counter is feeding the to go orders as well as the dine in orders. And then you wait until they call your name and or your number. Okay second warning, you know how when they announce the planes at the airport and you just hear whaw, whaw, whaw, blah blah. That's the speaker system here. So when they call out someone's name or number you see a lot of people checking their tickets looking around and then walking up to the counter, everyone with that "is that me look" happened to me twice LOL the table next to us did it at least three times. It's a little convoluted but if you like fried fish or fried shrimp this could be your ticket. This is a monument to the SA Spurs. Beauty seafood restaurant it's been a while since I've been there since I've moved away the last time I was there maybe a year ago had a jungle fish sandwich and wasn't that great here I am again deciding to give you guys another try I got your fish sandwich special small fish sandwich small drink and fries for $8.99 ask for extra dry sauce end up paying 10 and 1/2 dollars for it sandwich was okay but for that kind of money I can get a lot better deal bigger sandwich bigger drink for $9 I know you guys been in family business for quite some time but somewhere along the way you made changes that I can tell the difference I've been cooking for 40 years your product does not taste the same as I remember it when I used to go there when I was younger.
