Meh. These guys are always crowded, but they can't get an order right to save their lives, but people keep coming back, so maybe they don't have to. We order tacos for the office almost every week, and there is ALWAYS at least one messed up order, but they still charge you for whatever was written down, so we can pretty much expect to get overcharged unless we open each taco and make sure - which doesn't happen. Several times I've ordered Beef Fajita a la Mexicana with cheese, and the taco shows up with dry beef in a tortilla, yet we were fully charged based on the order. Another thing too is you can expect the owner will charge you whatever is on his mind, especially when you get add-ons like cheese, so it's a double whammy when the order is wrong. There's no way to check the receipt against your order since it's all numbers and no descriptions. When it was my turn to pick up and I paid, I was told by the owner that my company normally tips $5. Really??? This is a taco stand in a building, and you want me to tip when I have to get my own salsa and I've been overcharged for everything and I know my order is wrong? They have no QC, and the owner doesn't really care because they're busy. They just happen to be in an area with a lot of businesses around with no competition on the breakfast tacos, but if there was anything else nearby, trust me, we'd be going there.
Are the tacos good when they're right? Usually, but fairly inconsistent - sometimes the meat is good, sometimes it looks like we got the scrapings from the grill. I've had burnt beans with almost no cheese as many times as I've had mostly cheese with beans that missed the tortilla and were wrapped directly by the foil so they tasted like aluminum.
Maybe if you're going for one taco and you're eating in you'll be okay, but if you're ordering to go, watch out - your order is...
Read moreDoes this place serve good tacos? Hell yeah! But that's an understatement. Is the service good? Excellent every single time and they'll have it ready in short time, even if they're busy. Best to call ahead if you're taking this to go. Are the prices reasonable? I can say that I, personally, am able to only eat a max of three tacos. These are stuffed and it's safe to say that you get what you pay. That said, yes, they are reasonable. Do I spend like $15 everytime I go for myself and am always pleased. This place is only open from morning till early afternoon, so does that make them a breakfast place? Not necessarily, I wake up before dawn and would have breakfast then but I can get regular tacos and plates at the hours they are open. I prefer this over the breakfast tacos. Man, do I love that alambre taco. How's the facility in general? Well the establishment here is located in a small shopping strip on the lateral of 1604 and understandably has limited space. It's probably [subjectively], the most notable business of the strip, however. Once inside the dining space is small and the cook's line is visible, naturally, to the patron. So you can safely see the ongoings of the staff and the preparation your food should you wish. All I see is that they are efficient to a "t". Do they have good salsa? It should be said that pre-pandemic they had an open salsa bar that would offer low heat mild salsa to very, very, (and my preferred) hot salsa. Currently they have a limited selection with salsa contained in disposable sealed plastic ramekins. I do miss that, but I'll look...
Read moreAugust 2025 Revisited for some additional tacos! Same great service and food. Thanks TnS for being consistent in your service and food.
April 2025 I was in the area and decided to stop in and get a few tacos for breakfast. We ate the bean and cheese and potato and egg taco there. I then ordered four fajita tacos to go. You gotta love this place, as it is one of the best, if not the best places to get tacos in san antonio.
I hope that you decide to visit and your experience is as good as mine
March 2025 It was time to revisit a fantastic taco place (IMO). I stopped in with a family member to get some breakfast tacos, and took 4 fajitas tacos for snacks.
I encourage you to give this place a try. I do not believe you will be disappointed.
