Texas D Willie's Smokehouse Zarzamora — Restaurant in San Antonio

I had heard about this place from an Instagram post, so I decided to go check it out. I was not disappointed with the food at all. I ordered the 3 meat plate that came with 2 sides, and I ordered a large Kool-Aid. I got my go-to plate of brisket, sausage, and turkey. The sides I selected were sweet potato casserole and mac-n-cheese. I ordered my brisket lean with some burnt ends. First, let me say that when I got my plate, visually, it was very appealing, but that does it no justice in terms of complement. The brisket had a great flavor with an amazing bark on it. It was still very juicy, and the burnt end pieces just melted in my mouth with amazing flavor. Their jalapeño sausage was equally amazing. It had a nice snap to it and was smoked enough, but without it getting burnt. The turkey had a nice smokey flavor without being dried out, which can happen easily with turkey. The sides themselves were no joke. The mac was nice and creamy but not too thick and a smooth texture. The sweet potato casserole was great and not overly sweet as some places tend to make it. The portions were a good size for the 19.99 price . I went and bought a half pound of briskets and a full sausage link to go when I left. I definitely needed to have more. It was nice going and not getting an up charge for wanting brisket on my plate like another place I visited recently, and the smell walking into the place equally helped with creating my appetite. I will definitely be going back some this place also has an ALL YOU CAN EAT option! Yes, that's right, all you can eat. Did I mention they also have DINO ribs? Sorry for having to write a poor food review concerning Dee Willie's on Zarzamora street. BUT!!!!! This is not very good BBQ. For starters I order the two meat plate: Chicken-(Dark meat) and Brisket? I question whether I got brisket, because the plate I received had three very small pieces of not so fresh, dry brisket. Note I said pieces and not slices. Secondly, the waitress continued to bring me white meat after I was asking for dark meat two times. The chicken tasted like it was dipped in vinegar and then smoked. The water tasted like in had bleach in it. The Kool aide was good, although it was hot and not chilled, due to having very little ice in the cup. Mac & Cheese was bland and starchy. The green beans had wayyy to much salt. I wanted to like the food here but I found that very hard to do. My wife ribs were old and small. Her sausage was fresh and very tasty. I had to eat off her plate because my food was boring at best. Please ask the owner to fix the ladies rest room, it was out of order. The men's rest room could use a new toilet. I think there is something growing in the toilet. The toilet is filthy. I didn't see the server wash her hands after removing dirty plates from another customers table, and then serving different customers their food. " That's Nasty!" Parking is a challenge. The food is not worth the price charged. I don't believe I will return for food service at Dee Willie's on Zarzamora, and I CAN NOT refer this place at all. Just not good food.......

Start with when we walked in there was a lot of people kind of blocking the door. We asked if they were waiting but they said they were waiting for someone. So we moved past them and then we heard. Excuse me, excuse me, the young lady at the register ran over to let us know that there was a wait line. So we went back and sat down and waited. She was very professional and courteous. I was immediately impressed. Then let's talk about Adrianna... Adrianna ROCKS the service boat to another level. What a great server. So personable. Her spirit was infectious. I will always look for her when I go back, and I WILL be coming back. If you feel "Flintstone-y" order the Dino rib special. You will certainly be taking some of that home with you. Don't be afraid when they bring it to the table. I love their macaroni and cheese. Thick and creamy but it's about that creamed corn! That was really good! We got a lot of fixings on the side with pickles and jalapenos etc. Took A LOT home but had to order dessert to go. They dropped one at the table next to us and I said yeah. That's what I'm having. Their claim to fame or my claim for them to fame "the banana pudding". Good old fashioned banana pudding with vanilla wafers. Your childhood is calling. But it's served in much larger portions than your mom ever allowed you...
