I really wanted to love the new location, I was really on your side and rooting for you. I went and met up friends for dinner and it was busy, was happy to see that. Well… that’s about as good as it gets. Service: our server was nice, but didn’t seems to listen to us and got wrong food and he said oh sorry I thought to said xyz. Drinks were nothing but ice, so you are drinking $14.00 of ice. Huge bummer. Food: OH LOOORRRD… being a British descent and knowing what a real Scottish egg is and being at loin and the roses in the past, this was the most disappointing of the night. I order scotch eggs, which they tasted good but not traditional. presentation was a little messy didn’t look appetizing when it first came out just kinda like slapped on a plate. Which was totally different compared to the RIM location used to do. Then I order fish and chips. This is the ultimate test and someone else on my table ordered bangers and mash. My fish and chips had the two smallest pieces of fish you’ve ever seen in your life and I counted I had 9 french fries on my plate. For $24. I can go to red Robin down the street pay $18 get three huge pieces of fish and a basket of fries. The portions are rip off. The bangers of mash had barely anything on the plate. It was like I walked into a diner in the middle of nowhere. The main courses were severely lacking and disappointed in. The portion size is ridiculous for the price. The french fries are real bland and were cold. The whole whopping nine I had on my plate. I even made a comment to my server like wow that is the smallest portion of fish and chips I’ve ever seen in my life and he just laughed and walked off. someone else at our table order fish and chips in his plate was exactly like mine so mine was in a fluke. The fish tasted OK, but not enough I would ever order it again from here. Atmosphere : probably the only good thing they’ve got going there looks pretty cool inside. I thought it was really well done I like the stain glass. I thought the bar was nice. Bathrooms weren’t labeled really well ended up having a long line apparently, in front of the employee bathrooms and it wasn’t for the customers so maybe make the bathroom sign a little more visible for your guest. Good luck guys, but I will not...
Read moreIt tends to give one pause when pulling into a restaurant parking lot and there are maybe one or two cars. One is likely to think the place is closed or worse, the food is awful and diners are staying away in droves. We had called ahead and knew that they were open . . .
Inside the entry door one instantly felt a little British surrounded by dark hardwood wainscoating, copper coffered ceilings, black leather upholstered bench seating, beautiful hardwood, mirrored long bar, soccer and rugby on the numerous overhead teleys, and boppy Britpop music to complete the UK aura. Feeling an eerieness in this vacuum cum pub, I began to listen for a voice-over introduction from Rod Serling as my wife and I were 2 of only 5 customers in the whole restaurant. Rather strange! We had waited for the dust to settle to visit after the recent opening in order to avoid the crowd, but this . . . ?
Our pleated, plaid skirt wearing waitress was friendly as she joked about the dearth of diners and half jokingly said that she was happy we came in so she would have something to do. Fish and chips were why we came and fish and chips it was.
A service tray with our order appeared table side in less than 5 minutes; chips or steak taters perfectly done and 2 fish planks each on a triangular, ouija board, planchette shaped plate of that lovely crispy, hot, tempura-like, battered cod. No tartar sauce, but the creamy, mild remoulade sauce, lemon wedge for spritzing, and malt vinegar made me forget it was not available. That fish was brilliant and I ate both filets, oink-oink! No reheat later for these fried beauties. The plate was filling, but mercifully light and satisfying.
If I were to attempt to explain the lack of lunch customers we experienced today I might suggest a remote possibility that it has something to do with pricing. Some might opine the meal we had (2 f&c + Cokes) at a shade over $50 is a bridge too far. Others, just peachy. We definitely enjoyed our food and regardless of the reason, hope business...
Read moreThis was our 'give it a second chance' visit. There were maybe 6 or 7 cars in the parking lot when we arrived at around noon on a Sunday. Upon arrival the hostess and manager were pleasant and accommodating when we asked if it was possible to be seated where we could have one of the TVs switched to a specific football game. We were seated in the main dining area with one other table. We immediately noticed that the dining room was very chilly. I asked for a diet Coke, the waitress neglected to tell me it was a different brand made with cane sugar. She mentioned it, only when I returned the drink. She took a long time to come back and take our order. When she did come back, she apologized for the wait and stated that she had a table outside. I ordered a drink from the bar, it took close to 15 mins. At this point we we're starting to get really cold, to the point of being uncomfortable. We asked the waitress if we could ask the manager to adjust the AC, she said, "I get it I'm walking around in a short skirt". When the manager came over he told us he couldn't adjust the AC, because on Friday night it malfunctioned and locked on the setting. It was at this point we decided to cancel the order and leave. I spent 20 yrs in the industry. Here's what this establishment and its staff needs to know. To our server : Customers don't care if you're walking around in a tiny skirt, not my problem, you made a conscious choice to work there!!! Furthermore, if you're taking too long to take an order, have someone cover for you. Finally, be transparent about your products. You are 50% of the dining experience, don't act like you're doing us a favor by waiting on us. To the manger: Sorry my man, we didnt buy that for a second! We will not be going back, and considering both experiences, cannot recommend...
