Happen to be on the north side of town, needed a quick lunch. Saw La Laguna and decided to try it. We had never heard of it before, but the outside looked decent and they seemed to have somewhat of a crowd.
We were promptly shown to a table. It quickly went down hill from there. Waited forever for someone to come to the table. Finally our server arrived, brought a basket of chips and some random sauces. We ordered two glasses of tea. Again it took forever for him to return with two glasses of tea. Now the fun really beganโฆ.
We had questions about the menu. I will tell you, it is all in Spanish with English in very small print underneath. I will admit, I donโt see small print as well as I use to. But this was ridiculously small. So we asked for just basic fried shrimp. How complicated can that be. Well it came with two sides. The server suggested salads and French fries. Ok, we can handle that. My husband ordered thousands island and I ordered Ranch. Needless to say this guy did not write down a single thing. Should have known we were in trouble right there. Well the food was brought out by a different person. The plate contained 8 or 9 shrimp (they looked and tasted suspiciously like frozen) a pile of white rice with some veggies and a little pile of lettuce with thousand island dressing on both plates. Ok wonder boy, who didnโt write anything down, did a great jobโฆ.Not! Then to add insult to injury it was like he disappeared. My husband too had to go and find someone to at least get some fries. The server eventually brought some fries. Also a little container which he said was ranch dressing, but really tasted like tartar sauce.
This whole ordeal was a total fiasco. Then when the bill arrived, it was over $40! I have had better shrimp at long John silvers. Needless to say, we...

ย ย ย Read moreFirst time at this San Antonio location after visiting many times at different Laredo locations. The beautifully decorated, very elegant & " modern rustic?" atmosphere located across from the Dominion was very impressive! What was not impressive was walking into the bathroom and seeing the waiter brushing his teeth in the one sink they have...๐ It was 1230 pm bud, you'd think you could've taken 2 minutes to brush at home... What was impressive was the beer keg urinal - very unique ๐The complimentary chips and salsas rock! Waitress was friendly and fast w drinks, but too fast to bring entrรฉes out about 2-3 minutes after she had just brought out shrimp cocktails - big pet peeve. ๐ Luckily, the shrimp cocktail wasn't gonna get cold, but it would've been a different story with a hot appetizer. Shrimp cocktails come in three sizes, and she went on to explain how the mediun comes in a larger cone shaped glass than small. We chose medium, only to have her bring out cocktails in little bowls, which we could only imagine were the same portion as the glasses she had described ๐ค Caldo de Mariscos was hot which was a huge plus, but lacked a little fish. All in all, sorta a lackluster visit after finding out they had a location here in SA and looking forward to visiting for a while. I will probably give it another shot for old...
