I can't keep it straight whether it's the Hill at the Ridge or the Ridge at the Hill, but the new restaurant will seem familiar to those that visited the former Eastside Kitchen. Not much change in the inside decor.

Want to try out this La Tuna affiliate? If you want a full menu offering you had better arrive before 2 pm or you will have to wait until 5 pm when dinner begins. In between time the Happy Hour menu will have to suffice. We arrived just after 2 and were going to turn around and leave, but the owner offered cheese burgers off the main menu. So cheese burgers it was and Gueros off the HH menu which amounted to chicken and bean nachos. Finished placing our order at the counter as is required and sat down.

The usual corn chip triangles were piled onto a small plate with a small amount of white beans, chunks of dry, white meat chicken which was supposed to represent chicken chili, and a small amount of cheddar jack cheese over all. The Gueros were served with sliced avocado on top with sides of pico de gallo and jalapeño strips. The $5 price kept the app from being a total disappointment attributed to the uninspired taste and flavor.

The half lb. burger patties were unnaturally, perfectly round which spoke to their most likely mechanically shaped provenance and likely previously frozen nature. It was a beautiful towering construction once all the salad was balanced on the fresh burger bun and patty pinnacle and the top bun mortared into place with an application of mustard (which they forgot along with the tomato) and more mayo. Rather an unusual occurrence the burger patty was lacking salt and also bereft of much additional flavor. A short waggle of the salt shaker made a big difference. The fries were frozen, but had a nicely textured coating that kept them crispy. Not for the French fry purist, but a very tasty, acceptable version.

We informed the very amicable waiter of the shortcomings during our meal which seemed to stupefy him repeating that our observations and experience were unusual at least in the few days they had been open.

To be honest the meal had potential, but for the seasoning or lack thereof and the rather lofty price for the burger and fries.

P.s. like other places these days be prepared to pay cash or incur a 4% credit card fee. Also they use an electronic pad as the cash register which asks you to choose you tip percentage up...

This is an experience I had with The Ridge at the Hill. Looking to find a dinner joint that opens slightly late since I typically work late and found this on Yelp. Decided to try it on a lovely warm Thursday evening. Amazing find.

It is located right off the New Braunfels exit on the 35, Intersecting Rogers Ave. Not too difficult to find even at nighttime. It is across from Sonic Drive-in. Parking is small but enough with 2 rows of space in the back of the restauant; might be busy during popular mealtime!

Interior decor is classic but very clean. The owner did a great job remodeling the interior and has a hip and modern vibe with many historic pictures. Bathroom is clean and does not smell (my personal pet peeve) so bravo!

Ordered the rib eye sandwich. Presentation was great accompanying lettuce, onions and pickles on the side. The substitution sweet potato fries were amazing; crispy and savory. The rib eye was perfectly warm, melting in the cheese sandwiched between the hoagie bread. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in while! Can’t stop eating even after being full with half of it. Ended up stuffing my stomach (which I don’t usually do, I typically bring back half of my meals).

The staff were also amazing. All very friendly and respectful. They also welcome military personnel so that’s definitely a plus! AJ came to introduce himself and chatted with me for a bit even though he was not my server; Evan was great in checking with me and making sure everything was good after delivering my orders. Amanda also offered amazing suggestions from the menu. Definitely a great vibe here.

Because of the great food and the amazing services, will definitely come back to try more dishes (catfish) again if in the area. Keep up the great work Amanda, Evan, AJ and The Ridge...

Came to try a new place with the family. Found this place on Yelp. It had 4.8 stars, so I convinced my parents, let's go! We pulled up and it was well lit, it was a little packed and they had a really small parking lot. We parked along the side by the stop sign. Got down and walked in. Mel greeted us when we walked in. She could tell we were new, so she explained how you ordered there at the front with them and then picked a place to sit. We ordered & sat inside. The place is well lit inside as well. Cute little Christmas Decor everywhere and neon signs that say Living on a prayer So on. . . I tried the Monterrey Chicken My dad had the Country Fried Chicken My mama had the sliders And my brother tried the Fish & Fries.. Julia serviced us with delivering our food and gave us refills etc. At the end, she was letting us know how they have live bands sometimes as well as people come in and sell the crosses on the wall made out of glass, and the art was just beautiful. Heading to the ladies' restroom, there's a selena mural very beautiful. I didn't bring my phone with me to take a photo of it, but it's posted on some of the other reviews. But overall we had a good experience. We will be back. Thank you, Mel & Julia, for your service

I walked into this restaurant as a broken shell of a person, weighed down by the cruel realities of life. My dog ignored me, my boss barely tolerated me, and my houseplant looked like it was planning an escape. But then… I met The Burger. I ordered a custom burger—bacon, cheese, and a generous dollop of jam. Yes, JAM. A choice so bold, so reckless, I half-expected the chef to emerge from the kitchen just to high-five me. But instead, what arrived at my table was not just food. It was hope. The first bite? Transcendent. The crispy, salty bacon danced with the sweet, sticky jam in a way that made me question everything I thought I knew about life. The juicy patty whispered secrets of the universe into my soul. My taste buds ascended to a higher plane of existence. Somewhere, in the distance, I swear I heard a choir of angels singing. By the time I finished, I was reborn. My dog greeted me with newfound respect when I got home. My boss sent me an email that almost sounded polite. Even my houseplant looked greener. This burger didn’t just feed me—it healed me. If you’re looking for the best burger of your life, order it with jam and bacon. You’ll never be the same again. It changed my life. Thank you!!!
