ThunderCloud Subs — Restaurant in San Antonio

I want to say that my boyfriend and I love thundercloud, and usually love this location. The manager and most of the employees are genuinely wonderful people, and on top of the great subs those employees are a huge part of why we spend the money we do there. However, the last experience we had at this locations was appalling. This past Sunday at around 4, my boyfriend and I, along with a couple of his friends decide to visit for an early dinner after work. We were greeted with the nastiest, most foul demeanor from the only female employee we could see (didn’t catch a name, but wish I had). This woman legitimately acted like we were ruining her life by wanted to order sandwiches. No please, no thank you, no hello. Just an incredibly curt, “what do you want?” and dismissive eye roll. Usually, I’m pretty passive about negative customer service, mostly because I’ve been in the industry myself for the past 10 years, and I have NEVER written a negative review based solely on a single interaction, but there was something fundamentally wrong with her entire demeanor. I hope this was a case of a good person who was just having a rough day for reasons that aren’t my place to know, but otherwise I hope the manager sees this review and has a conversation with their employee. Hell, we weren’t even given a chance to tip (which we like to do, because the people here are usually so lovely) because she didn’t flip the screen, and at that point I was worried she just added money herself. Luckily, that was not the case, but the lack of giving the option just showed me she knew she was being rude.

This is the worst experience I have ever had here! I ordered through favor and got a sandwich a combo salad a drink and some cookies for my kids. The only thing wrong with my order was the salad it had literally a few pieces of lettuce in it. The container it came in was mostly bare lol it had my two combo choices of tuna and avocado and that’s it. Literally a couple of pieces of romaine lettuce and one glob of tuna and one glob of avocado. There where no other veggies at all . I order this salad a lot and I have never seen it like this I was so disappointed I called favor they told me o needed to call thundercloud so I did the guy that answers couldn’t do anything for me he told me over an over and that he wouldn’t give me my $7 back for the salad or anything also other employees where cussing on the background. I literally haven't been in here in over 20 years. I don't know why I was stubborn about visiting but have been taking an interest in sandwiches lately. Soo many places have come and gone. Subway set up soo many locations, and then they went away. But this Thunder Cloud location has remained here since I was in school. I worked there briefly and enjoyed it. I never forgot how fresh the sandwiches tasted, and it hasn't changed! I can't wait to return and try another.

12/21/23, So my mom's never tried TC before. I dropped in and purchased both a Big Paul and a NY Italian. Took them over and had her try half of each, and she really liked them a lot. I figured that's a fun way to try something for the first time. Rather than all one flavor, try a hit of two really good sandwiches haha thanks for the great food and great service.
