I can't leave an honest review on the service or atmosphere as my sibling went with a friend of theirs. This is a review on what she brought back for me, the fantastic, super delicious, and famous authentic street food, Takoyaki.
I was warned by my sister to go grab my takoyaki before my roommate ate one of them. So I panicked and ran out of my room to go get my delicious octopus see that a small bite had been taken out of one, maybe 1/5th of the ball was missing. Not mad, I'm calm. I greedily shove the rest of the takoyaki ball into my mouth........ only to discover, there wasn't another single piece of octopus remaining in the 4/5ths remaining. A little mad, I'm calm... mostly...
I decide to open up the last ball of goodness. Low and behold there are 2, miniature, pinky nail sized pieces of octopus in the final ball. This was 97.5% bread, and 2.5% octopus.
I am appalled, disheartened, and whoever made these should truly have their culinary license re-evaluated. If I wanted a ball of dough with a nuance of octopus in it, I'd spill some fish sauce on a hush puppy and would've gotten almost the same result. I've found several places nearby that sell takoyaki, and of those few places, this has to be the worst. takoyaki. makers. ever. that I've ever come across.
I hope you don't treat your other dishes like this, like ramen with a single mouthful of noodles present in the bowl, or any form of sushi with a single julienne of...
Read moreIt’s been over a year since we spent a month in Japan and I’m very happy to hear that Yokai opened recently. We tried it out today for the husband’s birthday and we both got the tonkatsu. The broth was rich and creamy, and the fixings were fresh and tasty. A perfect treat for this cold and cloudy Valentine’s Day. The chashu pork slices and ajitsuke tamago (soft boiled egg) really topped off the dish, oishikatta!(delicious) I’m really excited to try out the other ramen broths they have on the menu.
Their Japanese egg roll with Mayo is very tasty and a nice little fried snack to go with your ramen.
They do take out, and their online ordering lets you pick specific times for pick up which made it easy to order in advance and just swing by for a quick grab and go. They keep the broth in separate containers so you can easily bring the broth back up to temp once you get home if you want it piping hot before you pour it over your noodles and fixings.
Although I’m really looking forward to going in and dining at the ramen counter. They’ve set up the individual serving windows you’ll sometimes find at various ramen shops in Tokyo. Damn you pandemic.
The staff was prompt and mindful and their uniforms were great. A little piece of Japan right here in our...
Read moreThis place has amazing ramen & the food servers are so helpful, patient, & inviting. Before I even stepped into the place one of the employees was sitting in their car & gave me a big smile! I didnt realize they worked there but what a way to establish atmosphere before even entering the restaurant.
My family & I hadnt been before & were celebrating my birthday. I brought a cake with me & without prompting the server asked if I wanted it in the fridge AND even brought it out without request & provided plates & a knife. 💜
The food is so delicious! 🍜 I had the tonkotsu ramen & the rest of the family had the honey chicken ramen. The broth is so yummy with just the right amount of seasoning, its creamy & soothing. The pork & chicken were tender & flavorful & the noodles were perfect! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals.
The ONLY downside is the ac is kept pretty low & it got a little hot. Its not overly uncomfortable but just be aware in case you like cold places.
Its a small place but so inviting & great atmosphere with japanese music playing with anime art hanging throughout. We will definitely be back because there so many more ramen...
