Finally! We've been searching for good sushi in San Antonio for 8 years now. Up until now I thought it was impossible! I am so happy we tried Yummi sushi! Delicious from beginning to end, beautiful presentation and run by people who take the dining experience seriously. We're really impressed with the quality of the food. I had pretty much given up on sushi here, but my husband surprised me tonight and took me to Yummi and I'm so glad he did! We'll definitely be back!!! Everything was excellent. I had an ez-yummi unagi roll and squid salad and it was the perfect amount of food. I was definitely satiated and got to bring about half of the salad home. My youngest son had a chicken katsu child's plate, my older boy had a shrimp tempura adult plate, and it was really too much for a 12 year old, we will get him the child's plate next time. My husband had a chicken katsu plate, he was in Japan in the 80s (and is picky) and truly enjoyed it. I have been obsessed with sushi for 25 years and our dinner experience was exceptional. The miso came out as we were looking through the menu and the timing was perfect. Really, really great Japanese food with a wide ranging menu. This is where to go when you want great sushi in San Antonio!

Ambiance & Service The service here is consistently attentive and friendly. We felt well taken care of, which helped create a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Food Quality We opted for the sushi & sashimi platter, perfect for sharing. The fish tasted exceptionally fresh—melt-in–your-mouth grade. The sushi rice was well seasoned and the presentation was elegant. While the platter hit the mark, personally I lean more toward rolls and appreciated that they offer great options in that department too. Balance of Rolls vs. Platter Although the sashimi was top-tier, I found myself craving rolls more. Just a personal preference and not a reflection of the establishment. The kitchen takes pride in their made-to-order rolls as much as the raw-bar selections . If you’re in the mood for fresh sashimi and appreciate solid service in a pleasant atmosphere, this spot definitely delivers. But for those like me who favor rolls, I’d recommend trying their specialty rolls next time—just as fresh and perhaps even more satisfying for roll lovers. Will we return? Absolutely. It’s a dependable go-to for Japanese cuisine — especially if you’re dining as a pair and want to mix sashimi with a few favorite rolls.

We live in the country and take advantage of food delivery every chance we can when back in the city. I feel inclined to leave this review mostly for Yummi’s sake. I have never dined in over there so perhaps things are much different when you do. The edamame was great. The two rolls I ordered were ok. They both were saturated in sauce. One had garlic, which was mentioned in the description, but it was pretty overwhelming and I scraped most of it off. Truly it was the sauce that made them less appetizing. Surprising because I usually love sauce, but this was too much. The food really had more of a Chinese feel than more healthy Japanese. I do like Chinese food, but I was looking for a lighter meal and that is why I ordered sushi. The part that was the most disappointing was they only sent two packs of soy sauce and no wasabi, which I thought was pretty standard as it has been included every time I have ever ordered sushi in the past. Anyway, I did eat as much of it as I could as it was my dinner, but for the price I paid I wish it would have been a slightly better experience. Not sure if we will try Yummi again in the future as there are a number of other options to choose from.

I heard about this place by family members how it was great and everything like that. So for one I went on a Friday between 9:20 pm - 9:30 pm when walking in I was told am I taking to-go because the kitchen will be closing. Umm they don't close til 10 so how is the kitchen going to close already. So I left because I'm not going to rush to eat especially since it would be my first time there. Decided to go again on Sunday food was good, service was not. When ordering our drinks he kept saying no to everything so instead of telling us from the beginning what they have I literally had to ask well what do ya'll have then. Than when getting our food they ended up not having white rice so for someone who doesn't like fried rice I had to settle for brown rice and when coming back asking if we need refills I can smell cigarettes off of him. Smoke while your on break not when your dealing with peoples drinks or food. Than while leaving the waiter comes out and gives us the tip back saying I don't need this order to go next time. Um excuse me. Look I know waiters and waitress live off their tips, I have family in that job field. Tips is not a requirement to give yes it is polite to give one but if your customer service sucks don't think your gonna be given anything. If anything i rather have tip the cook well because the food was good not the server. But he literally did not have to do that and was mad at the fact to because he has to give a percentage to the company. If the business you are working for makes you pay a percent of your tips to the company well that's what you signed up for when you got the job. If you don't like it than just quit. And while discussing the issues with an employee about him running outside telling him on what he said the waiter wants to start arguing with us and raising his voice. Seriously how unprofessional can you be. I never dealt with a situation like the one I had here. Who knows maybe the waiter was just having a bad day I don't know but no matter where you work at you don't act like that. First time and last time going, wish this situation didn't happen because food was good but i will...

I don't know about some of these ratings. First off, the workers here are great. Friendly and attentive. Service was really good too. Establishment has a cool layout as well. Maybe that influences the review ratings?. But the food... the fish was meh. This is a review of fish only. Maybe i'm spoiled with top of the line fresh fish. Those of you out there that enjoy fish frequently, y'all know the difference between fresh and old. This place served some old catch. The fam & I stopped by for dinner. Now,,We don't scream fancy connoisseurs of seafood when we walk in. But believe you me, once you've indulged in fish up & down America's coastlines as well as throughout Asia, you're going to develop a palate for fresh fish. The first bite i took i went from excitement to, "can i get the check please?" It's just mediocre. Maybe that's why they keep the place so dimly lit so you can't see the fish and recognize it's visually past the best serve by date. I hate to bash on this place, but money is tight nowadays. I don't want people to go out on a date night, get their hair did, and drop dollars on mediocre fish. If you're looking for good sashimi & nigiri, save up, make the drive, and go elsewhere. I can't speak for the ramen or noodles as i didn't have it here. It could be amazing. Totally possible. Maybe they have fresh fish and judged me and said, give that dude the old stuff, he's not gonna know. Look at him, he's goofy looking and old. And he likes the Padres, poor decision maker with bad judgement....
